Thread: Piracy
It would be really nice if a dev would responsd to this and tell us what’s up with that. Why should we get a system message saying that something has been transferred to our ship and then nothing is in our inventory?

That’s exactly what i was thinking when I tried. My guild is always looking for resources and I figure a little piracy never hurt anybody so I’ll liberate some goods for the cause and be on my way. Instead I waste my time getting nothing.

The cargo you see when you scan a ship like that, are generally related to a mission. Haven't you noticed that on some missions they will tell you to inspect a ship for a specific cargo and then dock and retrieve it? You never get the item in your inventory for those missions either. It just triggers the next part of the mission.
It's really a mission function you are playing around with. That is why you get nothing in your inventory.
It would be really cool to institute some form of space piracy though. And definitly allow docking/retrieving real cargo.
What I would like to see is Player to Player boarding of multiperson ships. Not for piracy, but they should allow someone to pull up to a yacht, or multiperson ship, and group with the other ship. Once grouped, there should be a transfer option to board the other ship (for social purposes).

I agree!
Too bad they pulled vendors from ships. Othewise, you could dock with the ship and purchase items. Lots of possibilities with JTL. ![]()

the times that i have attacked mission specific targets that weren't for my mission or the mission of a group member i was unable to damage them (i assume this is to prevent other people from screwing up your missions). on the other hand, i was able to attack this freighter and i had no missions at the time, it was simply a target of opportunity.
it seems that others have tried this and seen the same thing that i have. we are able to scan a freighter, see that it has cargo, dissable, dock and seize the cargo only to find that we have nothing.
therefore, if we take cargo from a freighter i would think that we should actually get it and if not, why should we get that message if we neither get the cargo nor does it have anything to do with us (as in a bug that somehow let us attack someone else’s mission target)?
if we are unable to commit acts of piracy then we should not get this message; but if a target has cargo, we can attack it, and we can dock with it and seize the cargo we should get it.
