Thread: Got ganked twice trying to do the master missions. This may be the last straw.

maybe you should try getting a group together....is kinda...necessary
It's necessary whether you have to worry about getting ganked by other players anyways, as it should be IMO.
That doesn't change the fact that forcing people to PvP when they simply don't want to is a bad idea, and has been since the beginning of MMORPGs.

Yep you heard me, read the title. I had high hopes for JTL but after getting ganked twice while trying to do the master missions, those hopes are gone. I don't want to PvP, in fact I despise PvPing, yet because some other guy thinks it's fun I'm forced into it. There is no way I can fight tier 5 npcs and try to keep track of other players at the same time. I even had another buddy with me, he got ganked too.
Honestly, this is the STUPIDEST idea for SWG ever in my eyes. There is no reason for it to have to be this way.

Because it gets F'n lame to see everyone running around with master this and master that, not to mention all the freakin' jedi that will be running around down the road. Maybe some of us don't want to see B-Wings and YT 1300s everywhere? Why should your desires more important than ours?
Here's why, and it's real simple. Because "our" desires don't involve taking something away from you or preventing you from doing something. That's the essential problem- my playstyle doesn't take a damn thing away from yours. The fact that I have "Master" whatever over my head doesn't keep you from reaching whatever goals you set yourself. You're talking about a system, however, that allows people like you to keep someone from doing something. Since your playstyle apparently involves taking things away from other players, and the alternative does not, I think it's clear why you're in the minority.
2. Solo grinding is ruining this game. Players don't interact anymore because it's faster, more lucrative, and easier to put on uber comp, get buffed, and do solo missions by yourself. Again, your play style is affecting our game, because most of us don't play MMORPG's to play by ourselves.
Even if the Master mission were removed from Kessell, it would still require a group. Stop conflating PvP with difficulty or required grouping. Despite what you seem to think, PvP is not the answer to all the questions of how to make high-end content. I'd expect the majority of the problems you're referring to to be hashed out in the combat revamp.
2. Most people realize that PvP in JTL is a little out of whack right now. Don't base your judgements of the mission on the current PvP model.
It's not a question of the model, although that's pretty broken. It's a question of forcing people to do PvP at all. How about you being forced to role-play and be adjudicated by roleplayers before you're allowed to have a Master title?
Yeah, I didn't think you'd like that much.

i made a group of 16ppl the other day, and all were tier 3 and up. Are u saying with that kind of power, i might not complete misson still?
If you encounter one hostile player, and that player targets you the mission taker. Well if he hits you before your squad can hit him yep, mission over. The second part doesn't fail if you die but you must survive to get credit for destroying the corvette.

The solution is to reduce pvp damage. We're talking by one half, at least. Maybe even a 75% reduction. They need to make it so one ship can not destroy an entire squad of enemy players in 20 seconds.
