Thread: Hey Devs listen up! A loud roar is being heard once again

lol i have a total piece of crap comp getting about 5 fps in dog fights and i can almost solo my tier 3 mission. Missions are perfect if you ask me, though once i get my new comp and dont freeze and glitch every 3 seconds then maybe they will be TOO easy.
LOL no way. I have the exact same problem ROFL. I have a really suxy vid card and was thinking of upgrading it.flying through nebulasis hell.Oh and i also play on a 56k modem so I can barely survive the lag spikes that hit some times.
Well, an MMORPG has no difficutly setting to change, and the 'cheats' are considered exploits. Players who have problems with game difficulty in a MMORPG either a). Group to decrease the difficulty, or b). post on forums to get the developers to change the difficulty level to suit them.
I much prefer solution a). Grouping. This allows for an organic difficulty level to be established within the MMOG. Highly skilled people will still be able to solo, while those less skilled can group. If you go with option b). and have the devs decrese the difficulty for you, where does it stop? There will always be somebody who finds it easier to post on the boards that something is too difficult than to actually complete the missions. Not to mention with option b). you get segments of the gaming population who get bored if things are too easy.
Yes I've seen the complaints on this board about mission difficulty. Most of the ones you're talking about come from solo players. As a solo player myself, I realize these are NOT valid arguments in an MMOG. I play EQ as well, and do I expect to participate as a solo player in all the content? Of course not. Why do people feel that should be different here?
First, you're forced to group-up even though many people would rather solo it. In some instances even two or three fliers aren't enough to complete the mission. The missions are incredibly hard for the level you're in.
I find the fact you need a WINGMAN to fly missions is a big plus to JTL. We are playing a MMO game and to hear the word "solo" makes my spine shiver. I find the Tier 3 missions are well placed for difficulty and for those that are having a hard time, it is an indication for them to find a random spawn somewhere and practice. Get a wingman and learn his style so you can work well together. Then fly the missions and be proud in your success.
Second, you have to leave space each and every time you die just to re-get the same mission.
While I am in agreement with you, I find this a insignificant issue. I would love to see our ability to request missions (not even tiered missions) from space using a hyperspace communication device. I have suggested it in beta where you request a mission from a specific space station (or in this case trainer) and they either give you one in your area, or say they have nothing. The devs can make it a mission list that everyone can see, but once a mission is complete it is done. The mission list would require a renewing source but we can get unique missions every now and then.
I think everyone likes a challenge but many of these missions cannot be categorize as a challenge, more like suicide missions.
I'm aware the game is still in its infancy but changes are in dire need and very soon in order to make it likeable and playable as it should be. It simply isn't fun.
I do understand that there are people that are not as good at flight sims that still want to play JTL, so I think there can be a compromise. They could make a special title for players that master pilot the hardway (doing the missions) and a simple title for those that do it the easy way (please suggest what would be easier, grinding xp?). I know I would take the hardway to get the title, and I think a lot of people would stop complaining about how hard missions are if they new they were going the hardway.

your meant to play the game with other people... not just go off and do your own thing 100% of the time. There are dozens of titles from all the different game companies where you can do your own thing...here, your need to work with your fellow players to accomplish the task at hand.
Only one problem....
SWG has NEVER to date forced a player to group to progress in their profession. To master a profession, a person always has had the option to solo, though at times, its certainly not the most efficient way to go.
With JTL, this has changed. Yes, some factions have it easier than others, but you'll see, for the most part, its the Imps who are saying that this is a crock. The reason is simple: We have to complete our Tier 3 missions in a Tie Interceptor (which only has 1 projectile and 1 missle - weak compared to the Xwing) or the Tie bomber (flies like a pig, but has more punch). If you were like most players, you probably picked up the Tie Interceptor - and to your dismay, found out that the missions are quite impossible in that craft - it simply doesn't have enough offensive power to go through wave after wave of Tier 3 and 4, Awing, Bwings, and Xwing opponents that the missions throw at you. Not to mention the Nebula craft at the end.
Yes, you can try the missions in the Tie Bomber, and they become a bit less impossible, but they are still unreasonably difficult, and its rather stupid you are forced to try to "dogfight" 8 opponents in a BOMBER! Dogfighting is what the Tie Interceptor is supposed to be for.
So this is where the frustration lies. Never before has SWG forced a player into a group to progress in their profession. Many Imperials are facing this now with JTL and don't like the taste of being forced into a group to progress in their pilot profession.
I'm one of them.
Devs, not everyone, not even the majority, are crying out. This is just one squeaky wheel on a 18 wheeler. The rest of us on the highwayare content with the difficulty level and have had about more thanenough of the self asorbing solo BS.

Not too long ago the Devs were going to make these ridiculous changes in the vendors and a massive outcry occurred forcing them to rethink things over.
History is repeating itself once again but this time its with the way the JTL missions have been put together. All over the forums and in game people are once again complaining in force,

Devs, stop for a second and listen.... that sound you hear is the people crying out once again.
Squad leader? Doctor/medic/ Combat medic? Entertainer? all these professions REQUIRE participation from other players to progress. SL requires you to be grouped and people kill things. Granted each one you can afk macro your way through, but each one still needs at least one other person to progress.
