Thread: Ace or the Ace game, who really is the top pilot on your server, in your faction?

Slarus, JTL is a twitched-based game. It's an expansion for SWG, not a patch.

So, it's different than SWG, and always will be. There's just no comparing.

That being said, go check out other ONLINE twitch-based games, learn, then come back with your findings.

Ok you didn't address anything with that.

Being twitch based surely the advancement boxes are not a reflection of piloting skill but a reflection of what toys you can use.

If a 2222 pilot can take down an Ace what does the 18 advancement boxes have to do with skill?

Moot point again. Being fixed as we speak. Better armor and damage reduction on the way.

So...with that balance in mind....what was your point?

My point is that Ace for JTL only means you completed the missions and earned the XP for the last advancement box in the Piloting tree, it is not a reflection of Piloting skill but a sign of completion of missions and XP. A special title that distiguishes PvP play and PvE or a combo or special toys to one or the other is wrong as the title rewards and toys given for Ace are not skill based but advancement based. If you read the topic you'd know this.

Keep you "Ace" title then! We could care less. Look above.

There are also multiple title for really good pilots. "Top Gun", "Spitfire" (I know that's the name of a craft), "Eagle","Starfighter", the possibilities are endless.

Very true but there is no need for any more titles we got a title oneach teir 4 box and for Master, PvP titles and PvE titles and badges have no place here, same goes for special favor or reward.

You want a reward for something that has no rellevance, put your PvP record in your Bio, I would suggest a PvP/PvE kill counter so that you use a paint kit or check a box and people can see your Kill record, but no special titles or rewards. Red for PCs and Orange for NPCs as a tracker.

They have no place in a turn-by-turn type fight style. You're right.

However, JTL is an online twitch-based game. How many twitch-based games do not have a ranking system? I don't think there are any.

Well JTL is one. Crimson skies is also another actually there is no kill tracker except in Vs. games.

The Pilot boxes are only advancement they are not YOUR definition of skill. That is what we have here.

it would just be another piece of uber loot for everyone to fight over. it wouldnt mean anything.

jtl is different from the ground game in the fact that fighting is actually based on skill now, you can be a "ace" and still suck, i see many people who should still be 1111 and are 4444 or something like that.

i think a more useful solution (yet still pointless) would be a space station in kessel that tracked who has the best kill:death ratio or something, thats at least worth bragging rights i guess

OR maybe you could go make a name for yourself without needing a game feature to do it for you...

Yeah an addition to your Bio or something for a paint job for NPC/PC kills red for PCs and orange for NPCs. If they did that even hardcore PvPers would beat up NPCs and it gives content for post Mastering, rackin up the Notches.

PvPers and PvEers have something to show off with but it's only for personal satisfaction and it's for both parties and all in between

Other twitch-based games call them "frags". As for your last point, that happens anyway.

I remember being able to go to a website, and see my name somewhere in the 50's. I sucked, but it felt good to have my name "in lights".

And, as it is a fact of life, there is nothing wrong with being recognized for accomplishments.

Well truewildman maybe we should push this idea out.

Kill counters for PC/NPC kills, that are wearable, paintable and/or can be included in your Bio for all to see your accomplishments.

PvEers can track how good they are at NPCs

PvPers can track there skill with humans.

And inbetweeners can measure both.

And those that dont care don't even need to use it.
