From years of thinking i have been under the impression that space is not a very nice place. But this is not the case in jump to lightspeed. Dont get me wrong the game is alot of fun, but where is all the collision damage.

I noticed that there pritty much isnt any, i found myself dog fighting in an asteriod belt pushing my pilotig skills to the test weeving and twirling around these evil peices of rock, only too notice that the npc managed to glide through them. I then found i can do pritty juch the same thing.

I understand why there is not space ship cllisions becaseu then it be very dificlut too fly without crashing every 5 seconds and angering your friends.

In my opion all space stations, large ships (e.g. star destroyers/capital ships) and space items like old debris, rocks and other missilatious item should effect your ship in some way.

Im my opion if the item you colide with is smaller than your ship then it should bounce off and cause slight damage to your ship. If you are of similar size to the object it should do large damage too your shiled and you should be kinda bounced away from it. ut if the item is much muxh largeer than your ship then you should suffer massive damage on collision and generalyy blow up. If your lucky to hit something at a slight angle then you would deflect off the serface with some damage.

I really want some realistice combat, and fighting in a massive asteriod field with all those fast moving iratic asteriod will test your skills 2 the limit. Also they would become perfect palces to hide when you get too over your head, so with any lucky enimies are crazy enough too follow you inside.

overall space is too safe .........

/agree; but can hear the masses crying about it shouldsuch a thing came to pass. One should at least take some shield damage when an asteroid bounces off you.

Sign me up!

On the condition that only shields get damaged, I sense many many many repair trips back to the station if it damages your ship. Realistic sure, but fun? Well, Im not so sure about that.

Maybe if your shields were tottaly gone and your rammed into something "then" it would damage your armor. Armor and shields gone "then" it would start to damage your ship.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree with you as well, it would be so cool. Nebulas should be dangerous too. But check out the thread bellow. I started a topic on the same subject, and unfortunately there seem to be technical limitations for dangerous stuff.

Ons slight problem. Some enemy ships ram you like crazy. Hell spme tie figters raminto me regeularly and I am on their side. The AI is Too stupid (or kamikaze minded)for this to work. Once again I say its a bad flight model.

Yes this is only relevent to floating debris and large capitol ships. And when you ahve no shield in my opion you hit something large you should exsplode into little bits, and add to the debris fields....

I hear the main reason that there is no collision dmg with asteroids is because of the fact that some people (due to a better system) are able to see the asteroids from a lot further away than others and thus, react much better, thus creating an unfair advantage.

Yeah, I used to hate entering asteroid fields in the early Wing Commander games (Wing Commander I & II, Privateer) I should get that feeling again when I enter an asteroid field in JTL. However asteroids in X-Wing and TIE Fighter weren't really that special either, so who knows. I've never gotten that feeling like the Empire Strikes Back asteroid chase scene in any Star Wars game.
