First off to the PVP'ers - I have no problem you guys having the kessel area and master pilot - if you guys are good
enough with a joystick, then well, you deserve level 10 equipment and the master ships. However, I'm not that great
with space flying games and all I really wanted was a YT-1300 to roleplay with. But everyone claims this stuff
to be so easy. Tier 4 is insane and the circle jousting is the most pathetic AI system I've ever seen coded in any game.
I performed an experiment tonight. I chose a tier 4 duty mission against tier 4 advanced tie fighters. I flew an ixiyen with
level 6-7 parts with a 92.2 top speed engine and 1500-2000+ weapons. I got to the mission and chose one tie fighter to
attack. Then the jousting started so I took note of a particular asteroid and the area around it as a focus point. Then flew
in circles with the Tie, I counted at least 300 times it flew in complete circles. Good AI? I think not. Challenging? Nope
Just overly annoying. Here's my take. You guys say get a group. Well, that's all fine and good, I have 5 people in my little
roleplaying guild, all of which aren't really that great with a joystick or flying. No big deal right just find other people to group
with. Well, I play on corbantis and well, the people are corbantis seem to be very VERY self-serving. Meaning, finding a group
is like looting a Legendary T21, especially if you're a roleplayer and don't belong to one of those 'Leet speak' uber super
joystick cowboy guilds who all have master ace pilots now and think that JTL is too easy. All I wanted was the YT1300
to use as a prop for my roleplay. I didn't want master pilot, no special flightsuit or helment. No special PVP bonus uber level
gazillion weapons, just a YT to fly and decorate and roleplay a smuggler with my OWN stories, not the silly little missions that
are given to you by the trainer. I've already got so frustrated with the difficulty level on these missions that I snapped my joystick in
half and threwthe pieces across the room.
Now my question is should I just quit? I've played this game for almost a year now and I'm a huge star wars fan. But I'm not
some uber super pilot like most people seem to be. Should I be left out because of that? Should the mulitplayer ships only be
content for people that are really really good at flying a ship? Or is it acceptable to ask that the multiplayer ships be certed at a lower
pilot level? I have friends and i do group, but really none of us are good enough to get the whole way to master. Any opinions?

Try not to fly at full speed whilst fighting and you don't go round and round. It's all in the throttle controle to line em up.

I did that, I cut my engines to half, I tried that, I tried stopping and rolling behind them, I've tried just about
everything....no avail

YT-1300 should have come earlier in the privateer tree (it is only a freighter) and them given another multiplayer ship at master (maybe the yt-2000)
but, yeh, if you circled 300 times on one fighter... wow.there actually is 2 different ways that the AI will fight you, one is circling (it is doing what ever player is doing... trying to get behind you) the other is the joust method, shooting off to a distance and coming back and peppering you on the front shields. The AI isn't too inventive but it is really no different than most players fly in PVP. besides, if it is hard for you now, how much harder would it be if the AI threw in a coupla loops, a few split-S's, and a coupla roll-turns?

So I should just quit and leave the YT-1300 to the more advanced players that are really good
at flying? We all know with the lag and everything the ground game isn't that great anymore.
Should I just quit? Seriously, I'm not trying to be a jerk here, I just wanted something to improve
the whole roleplay atmosphere..But I guess that'll only be given to super pilots that know all
the moves and can fly much better than I can.. Must people are going to say, yeah you suck..
shut up and quit.. My question to them is #1 Why must you be so mean about it? #2 Is the multiplayer
ship something that the super pilots who pvp alot andcan beat all the tier ships in the mission with
ease will like and use? The posts on the forums said that multplayer ships aren't great in pvp
anyway. I'm just really disappointed and discouraged right now. Maybe a good opinion could help..
I just don't know anymore....

This thread does not fill me with confidence. I wonder if I should even let the patches finish their downloads.

Trystim....
don't do your missions for exp...."freelance it"....there are great spots in other systems such as Lok, Dath or Endor to get great exp, piloting exp and fun....try just exploring and "playing". The YT-1300 will come sooner than you realize....in other words stick with it

Yes, it does appear to be more like "Defender Of The Crown" than Star Wars and i agree wholeheartedly, the AI is pathetic, i've been playing Space Sims/Flight Sims a lot since the 80s and the AI in this is the worst i've ever played against because of the jousting and the odd ship still turrets like it did in Beta. Makes you wonder if they spent all the development time on getting the Imperial hat to work and threw JTL together at the last minute. Blinking Internet, makes developers lazy in terms of getting it right, too much, "get it out, we'll patch it later" type attitudes in the games industry today.

If ur a huge Star wars fan....."You will stick with it" (Hand slightly moving acros the screen) I know it can be a headache, but when its all said and done only star wars fans will be left in this game. And although that could prove to be really small server, Ill still be here.

best thing to do if you really want it is to stick with it. try to find someone that is already master or close to it to group with. the yt-1300 and the rest of the MP ships are pretty horrible in pvp, but it is fun to run around them.

Man, I tried that. Most of the Ace Pilots are doing their own thing.. Not too many of them that I've seen
want to go flying around with a sucky pilot for the 4 million xp it takes to get those tier 4 boxes filled..
I'm starting to think that it's hopeless.... Not too mention my computer ain't all that great like alot of you
so I still lag in space which with the rubberbanding and stickiness around nebulas, those tier 4 ships
might as well be the chariots of almight ultimate doom, because I won't have a chance at killing them..
Kinda ruined it for me. I waiting since the first announcements of JTL to play and fly the YT1300. I even
stuck through all the ground game's bugs and mishaps.I tried my best to have fun even with the little
bit the ground game has to offer. However, I think now that I see just how hard JTL is for me, my
goals of flying the YT1300 are just out of reach and probably out of my league.

OK,next....
Thanks man. I'm so happy that you're so great at this that you can just completely overlook another player's strife and
frustration. It's people like you that ruin this game even more than the difficulty. You people don'tjust roleplay evil
characters, you really are evil. Community my rear, this is more like the mafia.
