Thread: Mastering the Pilot prof, what a crock

So, after playing for two hours looking for TIEs, I found a few packs of yellow TIEs that fit the mission profile. Killed them all, thought cool, I got 10 TIEs down now. Then I find a random aggressor and take it down. I then got the following system message "29 more targets to destroy" or something similiar to that. BS. I killed TIEs that fit the description, but, because they were not aggro TIEs they didn't count. So now, here I go. How in the world does SOE expect the casual player to master pilot. I am a casual player (well, probably a bit more than that, maybe an above average casual player), but I will never get this done (I was only able to grind pilot so fast because I have been off of work for a week). I am never going to have enough time, or wish to put in the effort to do what is required for this master box. I understand that SOE should do this with jedi, but master pilot? I mean, come on. At least give me the option of accumulating the 7.5mil exp and earning the box, don't force me to kill 30 TIEs in a pvp sector and then blow up a corvette. If I earn the 7.5mil, I deserve that box. Too make it worse, if you don't master pilot within the next few weeks, you will never be able to do it due to Master PC packs killing everyone in the PVP sector. I am glad that SOE has decided to alienate their biggest player base, the casual players, by doing things this way. It is cool to give some bonuses to the hard core players, even giving them Jedi, but you should not take the option of master pilot from me or other casual players, just becausewe can't play 5 hours a day or beat off the wolf packs in the PVP sector. All I want is theoption to get master with 7.5mil. Leave the stupid mission in the Kessel sector and let the playerswho want to do it beable to. But give me, and the other 80% of the players on this game, the chance to become a master pilot. Believe me, there is going to bea revolt when more of the casual players get to the top to get that master box. So give us the 7.5mil option.Otherwise,SOE is probably going to start seeing a real diminishment of the player base.

The meaning of victory is not to defeat your enemy but to
destroy him, to eradicate him from living memory, to leave
no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his every
achievement and remove from all record his every trace of
existence. From that no enemy can ever recover.
That is the meaning of victory.

Go back to the ground, finish BH. Finish moving my house to Naboo. Master Swordsman, TK,or Pikeman. Wait for the rebalance and hope I can go back to commando for pvp. I figure doing all this will take the time to the rebalance. Oh, and have a good time flying around in my B-wing and Nova Courier killing NPC imps.

well, if your a casual player, you could just team up with a group of more hard-core players and go do your mission one night and get it over with. i think doing this is a great way for people to master pilot, without having to actually grind all the xp. plus, you get to fight a capital ship .

Most of my friends are casual players. We don't have the time to go to the Kessel sector and hunt TIEs for several hours because they only spawn in groups of one. Plus, can you tell me why I should be forced to do this for a prof other than jedi?

My point was mastering a pilot prof is sorta pointless. Nothing much to do with it. So why bother trying to master it in the first place

For the MP ship alone, that is enough reason to master it.

Why the hell does everyone keep mentioning Jedi? Almost every post that isn't constructive says "jedi" somewhere in the thread. I'm not flaming you, I'm just asking why.

And buddy, if you're close to master pilot by now.. you are not a casual player. I'm 1111 pilot and a Jedi, and I can't keep up with either one.. I play about 4 hours a night.

I think so many people mention Jedi along with the Master Pilot profs because of these are the only profession which force you into PvP

Well, that's your opinion, obviously. But why is your opinion even remotely relevant to what other people want to do? I'm not trying to be nasty here, just pointing out that it's pretty arrogant to assume your perspective must drive other people's choices. So there's not much content at Master. People should still have the option to do it, and shouldn't be forced to fight off gankers in order to master a profession.

Your opinions, while valid, are still just that- yours. Just because you disdain something doesn't mean other people do, or should.
