the lead helper indicater makes flying and shooting way to easy...there is no judging of where to shoot...it tells it to you...its not like Xwingvs T fighter...there u had to geuse were u had to shoot and if you were right it would make a blip and turn green when evr u would shoot and it would hit it...this recticle thing makes it WAY to easy to fly

i say take it down or atleast make no where near as accurate as it is now...who evr said it gives u an idea of where to shoot was only telling a half truth...its 90% accurate most of the time...im not trying to flame but the combat would be alot more interesting if u made it different

and in real life, do you think the pilots dont use this type of system?

come on,

To win in PVP one must cheat, exploitz, hackz, and above all, have other pals that do the same. Once the foe is defeated, then go "OMGZZZ UZZZ SUCZ, LERN TO PLAY"

And so forth!

lead indicator becomes totally off target in tier 2 targets and thats it.

i also noticed that , there seems to be 2 points a target can get hit. if you take it too close, and mark by eye coordination, it always lands hits, however it also always makes a sound and effect like it hit the shield. and no shield or other damage occurs.

when you take much more lead and shoot ahead, it lands correct hits.

however, i am also suspicious that in order to make higher tier targets harder, some algorithm seems to be coded in that reduces number of hits done. despite i stay pinpoint on target while following the 'way off the lead indicator lead' where my bolts hit the enemy, it seems like its taking 3 hits and counting them as one. which is rather too annoying, if my suspicions are true.

targets need to be harder because of their piloting skill or equipment. not by falsely deducted hits.

hey i said im not trying to flame...im just saying its to noob friendly...if XWA or the related games were so popular flying games for the SW lore...why is it a bad thing to have JTL like it

theres no reason not to have it alike...mainly because it was a very good game

i think the best thing to do would be add an option in the options menu to turn it off, there are some times i want it on,and others id like the challenge of not having it there

Heh if anything having it there makes things harder. Its usually wrong, but people who are dependent on it miss a lot, people who aren't seem to do better.

Nothing wrong with having it there. In wing commander games your guns would autotrack for you within a certain range, that would be unbalanced. The lead target indicator isn't a problem.

Real world pilots have "lead indicators" as well. There is nothing unusual about them existing. They DO need a way to turn it off for those of you that just need something to complain about...

i say leave hte lead indicator. firing at the lead indicator actually makes your blasters physically miss the target but it does damage, if you fire somewhere inbetween the lead indicator and the target the blasters will physically hit the target but do no damage. i find this very irritating.

I'm not giving an opinion on wether to remove it or leave it here, but just a note...please don't compare JtL to XvT. It was never ment to be XvT, isn't XvT, and will never be XvT. It took a long time for some people in beta to realize that. Basically, XvT has been done before. It doesn't need to be done again.

But since they chose to make almost an exact copy of the X wing/Tie Fighter series, then it stands to reason why people would compare them.

Sure the graphics are a little better than x-wing alliance, but overall the gameplay is about the same. Some people like it better, some do not like it as much.

All I can say is thatJTL is more reliant on groups, and that is a good thing in my opinionsince this is an MMO and therefore it +is all about playing with other people.

XvT was more about being a solo game.

Actually, XvT was an inherently multiplayer game.

Nobody is saying make JTL EXACTLY like XWA, or TIE Fighter. It's just that there are some very good aspects of those games that are sorely missing in JTL, and would almost certainly NOT interfere with the nature of JTL as a MMORPG. Yes, direct shield control and systems control, etc., in those great old hits gave aninstinctive interactive and engaging combat experience. JTL is basically just find a target and see if you can shoot it. Heck, the targetting system in JTL is just horribly confusing and unintuitive.

I understand the points where the lead reticle stays, but as a good pilot, I also want to see it gone. As a compromize, I would love to see a hardcore mode setup where the lead reticle is not drawn, but also in PvP, whomever is attacking you doesn't get that advantage either, regardless of their mode.

I've noticed that the leading reticle is hardly "pinpoint" accurate, much like an RL heads-up. Rather, it's an approximation of the area needed to be shot. This becomes more evident the higher the tier.
