Thread: Armor really worth it?

Is it just me, or is armor not really worth the mass?

I mean, I dont think I have ever been in a situation where a MOB has gotten thru my sheild that I lived unless I hypered out before they disabled my ship.

Just made it to 2322 and looking at lvl 7 parts, 14K mass each for 1300 armor points, seems to me that there are better ways to use mass, anyone else think so?

Thats A pretty good Idea, I Might end up doing that. Still refitting my ship atm, depending on how much energy I need I might be able to save about 18K mass by using a looted reactor instead of a crafted one.

a small amount of armor is always a good idea... but alwyas sacrifice stronger armor for lighter armor when you need mass.

That's the way I do it, heavey in the back, light in the front. only downside is head on engagement with 5+ fighters.

I use lvl 1 armor and a lvl 10 shield. Good armor is useless right now, with the way decay works, I am not going to use a 20+k mass armor when it decays to less than 1k protection after the first death. Save all your mass for good shields.

PvE, I don't use any armor

PvP, I only put in in the front, cause all PvP battles are decided in the 1st pass.

armor is pretty much useless. i scrapped all but the lightest possiblearmor (about 500 mass a piece)i could find in favor of a extremely heavy uber shield.

a uber shield in combination of a FAST astromech makes you invincible.

Hmmm...I like armor more than most then, I guess. It sure has saved my arse more than once on 3 servers now in Storm Squad 3/2/2/2, CorSec 3/3/2/2 and Havoc 2/2/1/1 so far!

I don't put it in priority before reactor, engine, capacitor, shields or weapon, but I am also tending to go with the heavy mass ships; bomber, kimo and ywing atm. And yes I am looking for better shields! Best I ahve so far is somewhere around 1k with 12.2 regen, but can't find anything near yet on the other two servers.

By astromech, you mean droid interface or the player crafted astromechs? I am still foggy in both those areas of what stats are best and who can use what.

If your putting more then a small amount of armor on your ship your wasting your time. Put all your parts in and work in garbage armor on the last part of your mass. If it doesnt fit, dont bother. Proven fact

Personaly I don't like getting blown up, it decays my ship Which meansI want enough armor that if my shields dropI can hyper out. AlsoI know you are an imperial pilot. I also know from experience that while this works well with a tie fighter with limited mass and extreme manouverability, it does not work in every situation. Try taking a Rhixyrk out some time, they have no trouble hitting you and your shield will drop at times. If theres nothing there to even stop a stray bolt your done the second that happens.
