Thread: I Would Like An Honest Answer from the DEV's

This thread is a very simple one. I am a Master Armoursmith on the Kettemoor server and I'm sure there are many other armoursmiths and weaponsmiths like me when I ask;

Why were we not included in the creation of ship compnents?

To me it would have been an obvious choice and decision for us to make armour and weapons, maybe it's just me, but that seems the most logical.

Now all I'm asking for is an HONEST answer from Tigg's or TH, or whoever as to why it's not this way.

Thank you for your time and I await to hear your reply.

May I? Because it's not in your scope of expertise. It does not make sense for someone who makes personal protective equipment to also make vehicular armor.

That's like asking the makers of kevlar vests to form the steel for armored car services.

They simply don't.

I got a better one for you, why arent Smugglers the one to do the reverse engineering?

It is a defacto slice of ship components. Not to mention the simple fact that both Lando and Han performed extensive "modifications" to their own ships.

Go figure.

At least you elite craftsman actually have a profession that does what its supposed to...not that Im at all bitter, just a bit disappointed.

I happen to agree with you 100%

I think the dev's tried to spread things around a little. Armorsmiths are able to craft new types of armor for the Ithorians. The Dev's were even nice enough to let you use existing components that you were probably already geared for. I do agree that weaponsmiths kind of got screwed on the expansion. Even tailors recieved some nice new clothing. I don't think it would have been much to ask for to have the weaponsmiths create ship weapons.

As far as Armorsmiths not being able to create armor for ships... Well, I'd think that crafting PSG's would be pretty similar to crafting a ships shield generator. Besides, it's a game. When a new expansion is released like this everyone should be included.

see...this is where I'm going to have to prove you wrong....In your example of the makers of Kevlar (which is DuPont) not making armoured car services...you are incorrect...they do in fact make armoured composites for the following:
• Aircraft Structural Body Parts and Cabin Panels
• Boats
• Sporting Goods

So that my good sir...disproves your answer....sorry.

Look at it like this:

If Armorsmiths made all armor/shields, Weaponsmith all weapons, Artisans all engines/reactors (since they make vehicles in game, it is logical that this is their "expertise"), what is left for the shipwright? Just the chassis? And Chassis won't be replaced as often as components.

Most Master Armorsmtihs and Weaponsmiths have viable businesses (all the richest people I know in-game are either Armorsmiths or Weaponsmiths). This way the Shipwright becomes a viable money-making profession as well.

It's just about balancing the professions to make them all attractive and have the potential to be profitable. Take away these things from Shipwrights, and they become worse than Tailors (who IMHO get screwed by not having clothing decay mean anything in this game).

So realistic? No. Better balance? Yes.

Granted...we may be one of the richer professions, but we pay money out of our @$$'s for all our factories, harvesters, large store houses, and because of all the focus soley on S.W and space, there is no income for the rest of us crafters, only overhead...which is brutal.

So what you are saying is that boats and aircrafts are not vehicles.

I understand you wanting more content. Trust me, I'm in the same boat. What id smuggler's get withthis expansion? The ability to PvP without picking a side, only now, that's been ripped from us.

You did get some content.

But, again, I understand you wanting more content.

You never mentioned armor, just structural parts. I'm aware of all that.

I know - I used to be a crafter and run a mining business before it became too much work and not enough fun. A lot of players are in space atm, but as soon as people make Ace you will see more and more returning to the ground game. For the next 4-8 weeks I think the ground game economy will slow, but then eventually pick-up again.

Remember when vehicles first came out and the Master Artisan's were king for a whole 2 weeks there? Then the market greatly slowed. Space will be the same, it will just take a little longer. And once the eventual Combat Upgrade (or whatever euphamism SOE is using for it atm) comes out, I think there will be a big resurgance for all ground crafters.
