Well after reading this board for awhile, and playing the game trying to find various loot pieces. I agree that it's a little crazy.
I'd like to suggest that for certain items that SOE bring a lovely little rule that they had in Everquest.
It's called a LORE item.
What does LORE mean? it's really simple.
It means that an item is so rare that any given person can only have 1 of them at a time.
Ifyou find a similar item on a corpse but you already have one. You cannot pick it up.
This to a greater extent would invalidate a lot of spawn camping, but would still reward people who go hunting.
If placed on something like say, ackley bones. it would mean that an weaponsmith would buy one, then have to either trade it away to get another or craft that one into a weapon.
This could be applied to many items and help them retain their scarcety and value, but also not reward the individual that has tried to corner the market on something that was never intended to be cornered.
On a side note: For those who must have that I am uber among all, the devs could also introduce a line of "Artifact" items. Artifact in this case meaning that there is only 1 on the server at a time. When it wears out, it's done, gone and will respawn at a later time. These items would have to have a constant decay, that way someone doesn't just hang it on their wall forever, but it would give a great prize for whoever has it. What dark jedi wouldn't want Vaders lightsaber?

we just now get loot rates to the point everyone has a chance, and the nerf 'i want uber gear' calls have been non stop.
all loot for everyone. no stupid artificial limits.
let all the masses have stuff!

Well, I will tell you why I chose to 1 * your post. I think this is a ridiculous idea. This means that WS could not make acklay weapons for the masses. It also means that you will drive acklay weapon prices up. So good call in a time of declining economy. 1 bone per WS...thats just dumb. And a "artifact item"...can you be anymore clueless. Lets make ONE of something on the entire server. Because that won't make the person want to sell it for truck loads of credits. Take your EQ ideas back to EQ. Thanks.

Doesn't the term loot preclude "everyone"?
I'm not saying simple things should be hard to get - but the whole concept of loot is, well, moot if everyone has all the same stuff.
It's boring, and it ceases it be "loot" if it's common.

I'm sorry. I like his idea. It does not preclude others from hunting and gathering same bones to deliver to WS. It just means all the credits the WS pays for said bones does not go into just one pocket.

Just love these threads accusing people of being greedy and then suggesting that what ever they have should some how be taken away from them and made so you can have one too.
They have because they put in the work to get “it,” you can to if you put in the work.
You have to understand that for there to be rare items that you want, then not everyone can have it. It also means there are more people that want “it” then there is “it.” So if you want “it,” you need to put in the time and work to take “it” by force or make enough money to buy “it” from the people that do.
Just the way it is. If there are 100 people that want the same one item, 99 of them are going to go home empty handed. You could just give it to all 100 people then what? “It” just becomes useless junk people destroy.

Do you know what hoarding is?
It means amassing a great quantity of something and storing it.
In what twisted definition does this "grief" anyone? If you are talking about the methods of gathering the items, perhaps you could have a case; but simply keeping vast quantities of items is not "griefing" anyone but people who are jealous they don't have the cache themselves - in which case it's not griefing, but envy.

There are much better ways of dealing with loot than this.
The prime problem is loot campers.

Very true, Majorslappy. All my propsal says is that a person cannot have more than 1 of a given item at a time. This does not stop the uber loot hunter from getting one. Selling it. Going back for another.
This does stop someone from camping an area for that same item collecting it for however long. Then saying I want $$$$$$ or you don't get it. They can still do this with one. It leaves people the opportunity to buy it or go get it themselves.
This doesn't really help those that don't have the desire to get the item. This just makes it harder for loot campers.
