Thread: All these Camping Complaints

I think the real gripe most of us have with such campers is not the casual player that FOR ONCE gets his share of UBER loot.
There are - in this game and even worse in other games (UO, Lineage 2) organized groups of people HARVESTING loot and credits for real life money ... selling it in e-bay auctions. They will use exploits, duping, 3rd party program/macro mixes, scripts, pinging, speed hacks whatsoever without a second thought ... to systematically and thoroughly camp UBER loot locations 24/7. They have no interest whatsoever in the game itself ... except as a form of income. This can be as bad as having hundreds of impoverished Chinese farmers slaving away in cybercafes for minimal wages doing gold farming 24/7 (we are speaking in the order of 9.7 billion gold traded ... in one well known case in another game).
THESE people need to be stopped in their tracks ... NOW and in the future. As it is hard to distinguish those hard core campers from the more casual campers like you you may receive some of the flak .. but that cannot be helped.
You can live with one less cool UBER attachment, but a servers economy has a hard time surviving the inflationary effect of one such group of loot campers. There ARE servers in SWG that have a wacky economy because of duping and POI camping ... just read the forum threads.
So its NOT a case of "Newbs, dont cry - learn to loot yourself !" .. because most of us dont want the loot in the first place. It IS a case of not letting organized gangs taking over our servers and ruining everyones gameplay.
Have fun

I know this is a touchy subject for a lot of people and there is a lot populist threads going around about fairness and all, but there is another side of the story and something you should be aware of, it’s why a lot of us old timers and evil loot campers get upset when we see these threads.
Basically, we already put in our time. We spent the months where we couldn’t get rights on anything. We have already been down the road you are on and learned from it. We have taken the time to level our toons, spent the millions on equipment and did what was needed to be able to compete with those that once kept us from getting loot ourselves. We have learned all the little tips and tricks on how to play the damage game (Actually it’s not as simple as just bigger guns.) All of us campers were once just like you and we put a lot of time and effort into not being at the mercy of people just like us.
To us all these threads say the same thing from our perspective. All the time and effort you spent to be able to do what you can do, it should mean nothing and give you no benefit.

Maybe my attitude is childish, not the point though.
Jagged-F3l wrote:The reason I said this is to point out how childish your attitude isconcerning spawn camping. You do not become more special with the time you put into the game. If you want special treatment ingame, then earn the respect and friendship of your fellow players. Where it concerns spawn killing, a player will be more likely to invite you to a group killing the spawn if you earn their respect and friendship, then if you walk around with this chip on your shoulders.
The point I’m trying to make is there are some things that should require more work and effort to achieve. Should a level 2 fighter have the same opportunity to kill stuff and loot as a level 30? I know this game isn’t really like that but the game concept is the same. If someone puts more time and effort into something should they get more out of it then someone who doesn’t?
Is it fair to give the same reward to the level 2 player as the level 30?
Crafting, Jedi and all other aspects of the game are the same way. It requires a lot of time and work to break through but once you do that’s where the rewards are. It takes a long time and a lot of boring work to become a Jedi. I don’t have one and hate having to fight them in PvP and loot rights but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve some benefit for their effort or I should have as much power as a Jedi without putting in the work myself. And it takes a lot of time and hard work to make a successful business with a good client base in this game. But that doesn’t mean I should start off as a 12 pt crafter with huge collection of resources that took someone else a long time to gather.
All of these things require a lot of up front work and with all of these things there are cries from people looking up at what they have achieved saying that they shouldn’t have what they have, we should be able to achieve the same thing with out all work.
If this was your point, then this is what you should have said to begin with, rather than wording in a manner that obviously rubs people the wrong way.
And while you might have a point, but this is the way the game works. However, you can provideinput more constructively if you expect the devs to take notice.

oh man, let's go spend millions of credits just to stay in one spot all day. what a dumbass.
could it be that your jealous that someone can spent millions to make back their millions tenfold and are able to afford the games luxaries by sitting in one spot surfing the web and chatting with friends? Well its not that easy, there are always other competitors but at least they don't have to run systematic missions all day for chum change.

i dont get it, earning loot is having the skills to be able to kill npc and loot them, not sitting there waiting for the npc to repawn. giving others a fair chance would mean not waiting around right there for whichever npc to spawn again, so you arent the only one killing it.

your missing the point. if you can kill nyax, bravo. but if you sit right where you killed him and wait for him to come back over and over again, then your camping unfairly.
1,388 days? 3 times an hour 72 times a day I think that would be 69 days. When I get home I'll do it with calculator or paper and a pencil; I am pretty sure it isn't close to 1400 though.

Can a whole server share nyax?
No. Its impossible. Nyax spawns every 20min so figuring there are about 5000 noobs who want uber loot without earning it it would take 1,388 days for everyone to have one chance at killing nyax and getting uber loot, however it will take many more days for everyone to get uber loot because nyax doesn't always drop the uber loot.
Can a game be played without competition?
No. Its impossible. Games are made for competition. If it were taken out then the game couldn't be played. Everyone would share everything no matter how hard it was to get (heres a jet pack for ya) and nothing would mean anything. This game would just be an elaborate chat room.
