Thread: The Veteran Rewards system is not viable. Will it ever be?
That is the worst idea of them all. If you do that, it means that newer players even have LESS chance to do PvP. Leaving them with no way to make money like we did with solo-missions is already hard to overcome and this extra skill points will make the advantages of older players even worse.

Frankly I see nothing wrong with a few extra skill points (less than 5). other MMORPGs like EverQuest rely on levels of experience, which means it's almost impossible for a newbie to ever catch up with a vet since both still keep getting xps.I admit some of the suggestions are a bit too unbalancing, but a few extra skill points would hardly unbalance PvP too much. Heck, if seems all my templates are always missing just 1 skill points to get a last box, so 1 extra skill point would make a huge difference.
Frankly, new players have it much easier today. It took me weeks to get to 10K credits and 2 months to get off Naboo and Tatooine. Today, newbs get 12K from the green droid on day 1 if they do all 6 starter missions and get tipped 100K+ or more from random players. Veteran rewards should be more than just useless decorations. Missing out on a painting is not enough for me to get incentive not to cancel my account ifI need a break. But a few extra skill points certainly would.

That is $540 dollars per year for all three accounts. I am not complaining, about the price. All three accounts have been active for every moment since day 2 up and continue to be to this day.
After 6 months of continues time, you are rewarded with a Yacht. I love my Soro Suub! Don't get me wrong, it is a really great reward, but....
Do we have any incentive to keep our accounts active as the CU is being worked out? Sure playing the game in and of itself is a reward, but heck why not just cancel and come back in a few months when things that are "in the works" are reality? We have all played just about every profession, we have done every mission, theme park and dungeon. Our houses and accounts are loaded with items and credits....
Veteran rewards are a way of saying thank you to the soild loyal players such as myself and my family, why is it that the system sits on the back burner? Please take my words into consideration and think about putting some rewards into the system before we lose hope.
Rewards are like a pay raise, they are not something that you expect or demand, rather they are a way of saying thank you to the people that have show loyalty and respect. With the ability to re-start an account up to ayear after canceling, rewarding people for keeping an active account is really something that should be a PRIORITY.Message Edited by Blackjack_Nova on 01-20-2005 06:01 PM

SOE, as far as SWG goes anyway, has consistently shown no support for their loyal players. as long as we keep paying without receiving these extra benefits, why should we expect them to do anything sooner rather than later? people lost all sorts of valuable krayt pearls when the lightsaber crafting change occured, and received no help from Support personnel or wotherwise. the same happened when other jedi conversions happened and people allocated skills without full knowledge being discolsed to them and many skills being unbalanced or having virtually no power, and were basically told "tough luck" when asking to change out skills. these are two HUGE strikes against the company as far as dealing with veterans. then came the rewards. granted, the yaht is neat but if you don't get JTL it is worthless to you and you can't sell it to anyone else. added to that, it uses up one lot of your ground space! i haven't even pulled mine because i can't afford to give up that lot. i can't even remember what the other reward was, if there even was another one. that's how useless it is, or how few rewards we have actually received.
i do not forsee us getting anything special compared to the rest of the players. to me, even hearing Tyrant say something about it is a pipe dream. Actions speak louder than words, SOE. your actions show your lack of respect for a community of veteran players...

Every single item you have, should have been obtained by your actions in the game, getting items because you had a subscription for a while, or you bought a special edition, is getting too close to ebay imo.
See it like this:
I work in a advertising agency and we do the marketing for a lot of different companies. And even if every single one is handled with velvet gloves, the ones that are with us for several years will get a very special treatment. (incentives/parties and so on)
There is nothing more valuable as a loyal customer - Let them know that.
Thats the way how money is earnerd nowadays.
Ahe
I like you very, very much.

BEST IDEA EVER!!!!!! I would so do this. They should do this when SWG hits the 5 year mark, and reward us who stuck around all this time with a Star Wars UNLEASHED figure of one of our characters (Main, or Jedi). How cool would that be to see my jedi sitting on my desk staring at me looking like she's about to wipe me out with her lightsaber.
Or or or! A drawing/painting of your character done by one of the SWG concept artists. I KNOW they're good, because their art for the in-game paintings kicks a...er....really rocks.
I'm an artist myself, but for some reason I love having other artists draw my characters. ![]()

So basically, as your character got older you were able to learn more stuff (you get more skill points)?Something like this is a definate advantage, but it shouldn't be unbalancing. If you could learn 1 box / year that's a lot of years to get a lot of boxes. With stacking getting nerfed in the upcoming CU isn't not like the current stackers can use this to become super stackers.Just some food for thought...-- A6
you cannot add skill points in SWG and it not be unbalancing. SWG is skill point driven, not skill driven. how good you can be is directly related to how many skill points you can put into whatever template you desire.
