Thread: The Veteran Rewards system is not viable. Will it ever be?
Make it like the other guy stated:
Increase the loot luck by a bit
or
Another 5 skillpoints
or
Another 3 lots
or
make all skill reorganizable for one time
or
a nice event in which just those veterans can take part
or
a special quest only doable by people that are with the game fr more than 180/270/360 and so on days
or
just let the verterans send in a ticket without this annoying holocron search before
or
increase the chance of a flawless repair for veterans
or
.
.
.
to be continued
Some things might be a bit to much but you got the clue i bet.

I'll just echo what Blackjack said. As a veteran who's been playing since about a month after SWG release but who didn't buy JTL, I never got a "veteran's reward". Unlike Blackjack, though, I've always had a problem with that. It's not a reward if you have to buy it. If they had called ita Reward for buyingJTL, then I'd be ok with it. If I had received the yacht even though I can't use it, I would be ok with it. If they never gave out veteran's rewards, I'd be ok with that. As it is, that was the worse kind of mis-leading advertising/marketing you'll see. As a"veteran" I was promised a reward, and they didn't deliver. I'm not too hopeful about any future "veteran's reward".

...I am going to be really honest here, the yacht is a mixture of a bribe and a reward. I don't have a problem with that because I respect the fact that the game we so love has to be profitable to remain viable, but at the same timethe fact remains that if you didnot buy JTL then youhave not recieved any reward.Even if you have been here since day one...

I must say those are some damn good rewards. Out with the vader meditation thinga majig!
ChewGoBack - Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you might want to consider looking at veteran rewards from a diffrent perspective.
You might have heard about a game called Ultima Online? It was a ground breaking MMORPG and continues to capture the immagination and attention of a hugh player base to this day. I opened three UO accounts 2 weeks after it came online. Those accounts are still active. That was around 6 years ago! I play on Baja (Lance Maxwell, Templer).
Anyhow, back then, Ralph Koster was known as Designer Dragon. We all know him better today as Holocron. (BTW I am a HUGH fan!!) I have a feeling that he was the force behind getting Veteran rewards into UO, and that he played a hand here in SWG as well. With that in mind, I am certain that Ralph has made known the importance of a great Veteran Rewards program to the Dev team he overwatchs and having SOETyrant confirm the fact that Veteran Rewards are moving forward is all the reassuance that I needed.
Check out the Rewards that folks can get in the UO world.

SOETyrant - Thank you so very much for the responses! I can't wait to see what is in store!!
Here is something that is well, profound:
My UO accounts are in my Will. They go to my daughter and in the event that she does not want them, they are to go to her elementary school. Each year the student voted "most helpful" will have account access for the whole year. The UO account trust fund I setup will keep the account active as long as there is a server to play on. I can't live forever, but would it not be something if my great grand children could play the same characters that I did?! Think about that for a moment. Whould if you could weild that same sword that your ancestors did? Well you can! I have come to realize that my online heritage holds great value for me and it is something that should not die out with age, rather it should live on and be passed from generation to generation. Just like any family heirloom should be. Veteran Rewards are good....

- Make the yacht NOT take up one ship slot, allowing 3 ships + yacht. It's not a combat ship anyways.
- Give an extra 5 skill points (total 255 skill points) to all toons created on an account with an uninterrupted 2-year subscription. (Now, *that* would keep a lot of people around while you fix combat and GCW). 5 skill points would be an awesome reward without really unbalancing the game. 1 skill box is hardly a "pwning" factor. And the 5 points would be revoked if you cancel and renew.
- Add new rewards for the 1-year and 18-month marks.
- DO NOT give cash rewards or profession-specific items.
- 1 extra lot every 6 months of uninterrupted subscription would also be nice. People already do lot swaps and have 30-40 lots anyways, so this is not game-unbalancing either. This would also be revoked if you cancelled and renewed.
- 1 extra ship slot for JTL owners for ever year of uninterrupted subscription.
- A new kind of cool looking (untradeable) backpack that holds 75 items would also be great for 1-year vets.
- A new kind of generic large house that holds 300 items. it would have a new look and would flag the owner as a long time player (like 18+ months). It would require lots and maintenance, but the deed would allow you to place a new one if you do not have one placed down already, and the deed would be untradeable and the structure would not support /transferstructure.
- Cool in-game decorative items are great for rewards as well, but getting more decorations only gets boring after a while.
- lastly, some of us paid an extra 30+$ for the Special/Collector's Edition and all we got was goggles. Would be cool to get a minor decorative/wearable veteran reward just for the SE owners after 1-year. Something like a new goggle design, a real wearable space suit (no mods), or something along those lines.
All these are great suggestions that people would go nuts over and yet they do not hurt the game, and reward both JTL and non-JTL players. Would love to hear feedback from the devs or players on these.

i think you need to be carfeful when dealing out rewards..
Veteran rewards should not..
1.rewarded players advantage over non-reward players
2. should not give them anadvantage in the economy
basically any reward that a veteran receives should be "inert" as far as the game goes.. hence the reason the only 2 rewards so far have been the painting and the yacht, which the yacht cannot be modified or used in combat (essentially its just a bus)..
