I don't know if they are broke. I followed the directions and it still lists it at 0 of 5 after I dropped the three items in them. What gives?

They still work. Put all the components in and then the viewscreen and it turns into a poster. They just list how many items are in each kit at the time. Same thing with the fireworks kit.

The kits will work IF you put ALL the items in, in one session. If you log out for a period of time (I believe it is over server reset) the items MAY disappear. I have proven this with repeated test except for whether it is just logging out or if it is over server reset. I have bugged this issue and a CSR is investigating, but if you want to keep your looted items, DON'T add them to the kits until you have all the required items.

Just to clarify, the kits are always saying 0/5 contents except when you add an item when it climbs to 1 and then drops again as the item is absorbed. However, the issue is that any items that you know you have added to the kit have been dissappearing if the kit is not completed before you log for the day and log in the next day. You then have to add those items over again to complete the kit.

Just FYI ... ALWAYS gather all components together before putting ANY item in the picture printer. I put a paint cartridge, paint dispersal unit, blank canvas in the unit and remembered my other character had the broken hand-held viewscreen. I logged of one character and logged on my other character who dropped the viewscreen in my house, then logged and logged in my character with the picture printer. I picked up the viewscreen and put it in the picture printer - NOTHING! I then put another paint cartridge, paint dispersal unit, and blank canvas in the picture printer and got the poster - a "Droid in Contrast" ... I wish I had read this thread first. Just know that it looks like any logoff kills it. It does not have to be logged off across server reset. I was only logged off 5 min or less.

I am still in discussions with a CSR about this. At the moment, they are missing the point, that all the items disappear, and feel the kits are just eating duplicates, but that is not the case. IF YOU DO NOT PUT ALL THE ITEMS IN BEFORE YOU LOG, YOU WILL LOSE THEM ALL!

Ok well what if I put them on my vendor before I logged out? That is really stupid considering I did not loot one of the gameboy type screens and I had 6 full kits aside from that. The canvas and the gameboy screens take forever. Not to mention that you get containers and the other loot kit pieces in the loots too.Boy do I hope this bug gets fixed fast.
PS I did loot a blue rug adhesive. It was the last piece I needed for the rug. It was great.

Grey game boy type Broken Hand-held Viewscreens can be looted off either Binyares on Talus or (rather more easily) off static spawns of Spice Fiends in various cities on Tatooine.

Of course, this entire discussion is missing a major point:
Why has such a counterintuitive system been put in place? The obvious model is the existing junk kits, which would store components in them as they were dropped in, so that you don't have to clutter up any inventory with orange rug threads or gong struture parts.
The precedent has been established, and the devs ignore it for a new, non-intuitive system that doesn't even give you instructions on how it works?
This is yet another example of the SWG development team shooting itself in the foot with an Uzi.

Bloody hell they should have told us. I've just wasted about 30 items then, all hunted by myself
