Thread: Have bad LAG? Try this worked for me

I completly uninstalled and did a full re-install, I saw a significant increase in my FPS and my ping dropped 20 points....
Whether or not it supposed to work, i don;t know, but it has seem to relieve some of my Lag

when my pings over 1k, 20 points wont make a dif.
might try it some time though. in my case though, i need a new HD, one already died on me, and this one is older... lol

A mere defrag did wonders for me.
Though i defrag reguarly, But hadnt since a few days before the JTL patch.... Defragging was a huge increase for my fps, Ping wise still in the 160's range

turning off file catching in the options from the launchpad works wonders too.

I gotta say, I read this in another thread, and it did wonders for me, about 10 extra fps. Now the thread said this wouldn't help with fps, but it did for me. I went into Bios and set my AGP size from 128 for 32. Works great. I know squat about computers, so I don't know why it works, only that it does, heh. Hope it helps

Yeah I did a defrag and I was like wow, 12fps in coronet pvping! I'll have to try that file catching thing.

I wouldn't attempt to uninstall galaxies and reinstall I have heard of people having problems trying to get it reinstalled. I just hope we arn't being black mailed into buying JTLS in order to regain our stability. I have a feeling it is server side cause i'm running on a cable connection have a 3.2 gig processor HT Pentium 4, 2 gigs of DDR ram, also a 256mb graphics card I believe it is an ATI radeon 9800xp pro or something.

My ping is still around75-80 with 30FPS. I still have tremendous lag. It is just there, nothing we can do...and nothing SOE will do.

The lag is server end for the most part right now... I can ping 100 or less with 0% packet loss and full defrag running a solid 30 FPS and it still lags. I'm talking 3-4 seconds from the time I hit a button until the action is performed.
This is unacceptable for a game we pay for. SOE, you have until the 6th to fix the lag and other major issues., that's why my subscription runs out.
