Thread: How to turn off/on Modal Chat with a keystroke?

Anyone knows how to turn off/on Modal Chat with a single keystroke? I know there is an option in the UIbut it is rather painful to execute. Thanks!

The UI option isn't really that difficult.
Go to Options, choose Controls, click on Keymap and there is a checkbox on the very first screen that says something like "use modal chat". Tell it yes to confirm and you're good to go. Now whenever you hit Enter, whatever you follow with will be in the chat window.
It's really the simplest way to do it, actually.

The thing is that I switch between the two modes all the time. When I am crafting I will it on so its easy for me to craft. When I am chatting I like it off so it doesn't bother me typing any letter/number for commands. Switching with the UI is really a pain.
