Thread: Question about faction
Let's say I do a bunch of Rebel Alliance missions and build up my faction, but do not declare myself a member of the alliance. Will I eventually become KOS to Imperial NPCs, anyway, and if so, at what faction level?
If I don't get killed, do I incur any other disadvantages from having high faction with the rebels or empire without declaring myself a member of either? And what happens if I build up both my rebel and empire factions at the same time through missions?
They don't fade.
usually in the course of getting faction points you will go into the negativesintheopposite faction. Since each faction requires a certain amount of faction points "To show you are dedicated" you would have to overcome them first.
So if you are a imp with 5000 faction points you most likely have -5000 rebel points you would have to overcome before being able to start at 0 with the rebels.

Not that easy becuase you loose more than you gain, EX: I destroy a rebel base and gain 23 Imp and loose 30 rebel. So pretty soon you will end up more like 5000 Imp -20,000 Reb, math is probably off but you get the point.
Point is, I doubt you can ever go back to neutral. You could switch sides, but you are probably better off making another character on another server go to the other faction....
If they add factional bounty hunter missions in the future I immagine you will need to be at least cover in one or the other faction to take those missions.
As it is now, bounty hunters have special missions terminals that are for BH only. Faction really has nothing to do with BH right now. All faction is for is if you want faction perks and PvP.

If you join the Smugglers Alliance you can kill both sides in Deep Space or Kessle regardless of ground faction affiliation, that's how it worked in Beta at least, and it probably still works that way since RSF got alligned with the Empire, and The Rebelion got alligned with CorSec.
