i run the game 2 times with different accounts on 1 system, on the same instalation. its horrible slow... it isnt playable when 1 of the 2 players is in a city or traveling fast.
i have a quite high end system, P4 with HT 3.06, 1 GB RAM, Ti4200 - 128, fast HDD's ect... is there a problem with the grafic card or is it running with 1 fps because to much traffic ? is there a chance to install it 2 times perhaps and then it runs faster ? the game uses about roughly 30% of the cpu on each virtual cpu.
someone a idea ?

Turn down the graphics abit? I run 2 clients at once at times on a lesser system, and I only experience some longer loading times..

well, the problem is that i have a 16/10 aspect monitor and run 1600x1200 lol, perhaps that is really the problem... but there is no other resolution i know from that can cover 16/10 or soemthing near and let me start the programm. i tested that with a lower one :-(

create a file called user.cfg
[SwgClient]
allowMultipleInstances=TRUE
then you can start the game again and the game runs with the same resources, with one installation.

Try running both clients in windowed mode at 1024x768 and have the desktop at 1600x1200. Make sure you disable sound in at least 1 of the clients, and restore the terrain graphics settings to their defaults.
My machine can handle both clients running pretty good like this, but the game is such a memory hog. Anything not built by NASA is going to struggle somewhat. ![]()

I always notice big problems when getting near cities.
In a house there's next to no video lag but approaching a city I get things like 0 FPS very often.

I've run two instance on the same system.
It will run better if you up your memory to at least 1.5gb. Would be better if you up it to 2gb. SWG uses(or needs) 750meg of virtual memory. If it can't get it then it uses disk.
This is what is causing your slow down, Two instances using the disk for memory.
Also note that after awhile one or the other instance of the game(the one your not playing) will crash. Haven't figured away to avoid that on windows.
hope this helps, take care.

Wimo,
Does this allow you to have 2 instances running on the same winxp desktop sesssion? It doesn't seem to want to work for me. (I can run 2 clients, logged in as 2 sep users though).
Does that file (user.cfg) go in the program files, StarWarsGalaxies folder or one of the sub folders?

As far as I know you need to have two different user accounts set up on the pc.
Never tried it with out doing it that way.

I tried this setup last night and it seemed to work fine. Mind you, I was in our player city and there wasn't too much traffic around. I'll need to head to Naboo or Corellia to test performance.
-1.55 Ghz AMD Athlon XP 1600+
-768 Mb PC2700 DDR RAM
-128 Mb ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
-80Gb Maxtor HDD 7200 rpm
-DSL connection
-1 installation, 2 accounts
Ran my two accounts together and I was getting 25-27 fps on both. Wasn't sluggish at all, but like I said, I'll have to test in a populated area.
