One heavy mineral harvester should gather 100k+ in the duration of a resource in shift, if you place it on a good concentration and place it at the beginning of the resource shift.

You were on the end of that specific resources time limit. They only last 6 - 10 days so if you aren't knowledgeable about when they started don't expect to get 6 - 10 days out of a resource that is in its 5th and closing days.

Agree, I've taken a chance and plopped down 20+ harvies to have the resource shift the next day. Just a chance you take. And yes www.swgcraft.com is a great starting point to finding out when resources started and end.

Okay, I tried going through the information provided here but most of it is from when this game was released and is well quite boring to read and pretty well outdated. Question is, what am I doing wrong? I see people selling resources like 100k sets of them. I place machines down to gather a resource, after I've surveyed and move to the correct spot of course, and I come back to the check on the machine like an hour or so later to find out that it supposidly ran out of resource to harvest. Then, if I open my surveying tool to check it the resource I was gathering has magically disappeared from the Planet all together. Now I sort of find it odd that my two Deep Crust Chemical things found all of 500 units between the two of them and drained the entire Planet dry of the Polymer I was harvesting. I really don't get it but I'd like to know what I am doing wrong. I mean if I left my toon AFK /sampling over night I'd get 3k of the stuff and it would still be on the Planet the next day. *shrug*

Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Also check your server trade forums. People will ask for mining contracts. Good way to make money. And, chances are the resources are only a couple of days old.
