Thread: Sound Options

Does anyone know if it is possible to customize sound/music levels outside of what's available in game? The reason I ask is that after playing the game for more than 18 months, I'm sick and tired of the combat music... however, if I turn the music option off (to get rid of the combat music),then I can't hear the moody background music that I'd like to keep (for example when you begin to approach the Emperor's Retreat, or the music when you land on Lok... those send shivers up my spine). Really, having the combat music come on when you fly by a krettle on your swoop bike is just so annoying as a multiple combat profession master (which brings me to another idea... like DAoC, why not introduce the colour grey for consider? That's when the Mob has no way in hell of defeating you and you'll receive no xp from killing it. Subsequently, the mobwon't attack, even if it is aggressive).

Another thing that I wish was the option to turn up the volume on background sound effects (or ambient ones). I want to be able to hear the birds chirping in the forest and the crickets (or whatever the Star Wars equivalent is) during the night. As it stands, I have to crank the volume pretty high to hear them properly which is ok until the firstinstance where I fire a weapon and my room mate can hear it in the basement while I'm on the second floor (yeah, so I'm exaggerating a little). You should also equalize the ambient sound effect volume... the thunderstorm/windstorm sounds are too loud in comparrison to the birds/crickets, starport/cantina sounds, etc.

Maybe the settings should be more like:

  • Overall Volume

  • Player Music Volume (for musicians and when you are listening to one)

  • Ambient Music Volume

  • Combat Music Volume

  • Player Generated Sound Effects (footsteps, yawning, etc.)

  • Ambient Sound Effects

  • Combat Sound Effects

Anyway, if someone knows a way to change these without bothering SoE, please fill me in. If not... SoE, is it possible to do this?

Ya Ive pretty much changed all the msuic over to what I want, I suppose you could throw a null mp3 in for combat music,

What you want to do is find a .TRE file reader and go from there.
