I just hit my first box of pilot and I've already got an inventory full of what I'm assuming is junk...

...but I'd like to know before I trash it all. Kuat capacitors, Mon Calamari plating... what does it all mean!?

The Kuat loot is good stuff. That's how you get a firespray.

Here's the rundown:

If you examine one of those components, you'll notice that it has a Reverse Engineering level. Let's just say that a Kuat capacitor (not a real name) has a RE level of 3. What you do is you find 3 of these things, and take them to a shipwright. The shipwright can then reverse engineer the capacitor, and actually improve its stats. Sometimes you'll wind up withan item that is MUCH better than a shipwright could make, even with 1000 quality raw materials. Other times, even after RE, you still wind up with a piece of junk.

So your best bet is to compare the looted components to a standard player-made component and see if it looks better. I believe that the higher the RE level, the better it will turn out after it is RE'd. Find a shipwright and have him RE all the stuff that you can. The ones that turn out to be junk, delete 'em.

Now, as for certain components being specific to certain ships (like the firespray)...sorry I didn't get that far in Beta

Boba (and Jango) Fett's ship, the Slave I, would be an example. The one that looks like an old ironing machine
