I just got my preorder disk + JTL box at EBgames local store. I entered both of the keys in the My Account page. I then fired up Launchpad and it patched away normally... 30 minutes later [I am on a T1](without ever opening the JTL box at all - only reading the key), I am able to play JTL.
Interesting.
[edit] I am not using any Beta files. I uninstalled Beta and manually deleted the directory days ago. [/edit]

That's exactly what I'm doing, but I wonder if installing the CD will save those on dial-up any time? Can anyone confirm/deny?

I do recall from the original SWG beta when people were using the beta files a few days after release there were major problems for those people. All of those people had to uninstall there beta and install the Retail discs. I would say be smart, uninstall and reinstall

I am not using the Beta files. I completely uninstalled Beta and deleted the directory days ago. I am saying that all of JTL is downloadable currently.

My JtL Beta folder was over 1 gig larger then my normal one. I wouldn't like to try and download all that on dial up or on a provider with a monthly limit.

How do you uninstall the Beta of JTL? I went through the file and didn't see an uninstall program, then I deleted the program from the control panel, but the folder and all of it's components are still there.

Uninstall from the Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel... that gets rid of the registry keys and some other stuff I am not sure about......... then you do have to manually delete the folder.... some uninstallation programs remove the directory, some do not. /shrug

Someone over on the VN boards posted that he installed it from the retail disk and then had the huge download time again.
I already planned on just using the code. There is little point in installing software that can't possibly be up to date just to have it over-written with re-downloading what we've already downloaded.

Most of the time your JTL has a TON of left over files that cause a major problem down the line. Be smart and delete it and reinstall or you will wish you did!

Installing the CD will save you a considerable amount of time, even if you have cable. After the CD install it only needs to download a couple of very small files instead of 600+ MB of information.
