I think it could be cool, if done well.
e.g., massive restrictions. Can't do Aurillia quests, can't use meditate, can't be a dancer...

robots can dance i seen some1 in a cantina before doing a rbot dance lol

Maybe not a species, but perhaps the devs could add a new droid module, for First-Person Control of droids (like possessing your familiar in D&D-based RPGs, such as Neverwinter Nights). I'd personally love to control a DZ-70 from my house, sending it out to explore the landscape from the safety of my character's study.

Droids have been brought up before a long time ago. I did once.
They are possible, but it would be a bit restrictive. Can't be uber droid players you know, but possible. The only Droids i see being able to play would be huminoid types. You would have to seek droid engineers who would equip you with different parts that allowed you different skills. would cost skill points and experiance like an normal characture.
Several droids became their own masters. give R2-D2 a few more decades and i bet he would be off on his own. IG-88 became a self imployed bounty hunter, the empire originally owned him but he cut off the ties and went freelancing. His back ground story is huge, almost took over the death star, but ran into bad luck with the rebels blowing it up.
If the devs want to put hutts in the game as playable, the droids would definatly be able.

So can droids become droid engeneers? Can Droid Engeneers alter a droid like an ID? Can droids own droids? Can droids own faction pets/soldiers? Would anyone trust a droid to do a mans job?
