Ok call me a noob but I would like to know the ins and outs of the DoT weapon statisitcs so I know what to look for and make wise purchases... I have noted what I think each stat may mean...
MIND POSION
STR: 225 - Damage done each tick (every 5 seconds?)
DUR: 135S - Duration of bleed status in this case 27 ticks (if ea tick is 5 secs)
POT: 73% - No clue what this is...
USES: 100 - number of times the bleed sticks before being used up????
Thanks for the details..

You're right on. Potency is the % chance you have of the dot sticking when you hit them. The higher the potency the better.

The tick time depends on the type of DoT. IIRC, Poison is every 10s, Disease is every 30s, and Fire is every 10s(?). So that weapon will give you 13 ticks at 225 mind damage each, a total of 2925 over the course of 2 1/4 minutes.
The potency does determine the chance to stick, but it may not always be that percentage. I'm pretty sure that poison/disease/fire resistence acts as a negative modifier to that chance. So if you take that weapon with 73% potency and attack someone with +20 Poison resistence (say from an SEA in their clothing), the DoT will stick roughly 53% of the time.
I also think DoT Potency has the same 5% capped chance to succeed/fail as a few other things (KD,CM poisons, etc). So if you use this against someone with +80 Poison resistence (SEAs + doctor innoculation), it'll still stick 5% of the time. If you had a 110 potency weapon and attacked someone with no resistence, it'll only stick 95% of the time (not 100%).
I'm also not sure if the uses gets reduced if you get a "stick" when the target is already poisoned. Once the poison sticks, you probably want to switch weapons to conserve the uses.

Great, potency doesn't sound like the best word for the stat, may be effectiveness would be better...
Would a failed attempt count as a use?
