Thread: great now *everyone* can macro!

BAD IDEA!
afk macro'ing has basically *KILLED* the musician/dancer professions.. you walk into a cantina and what do you see? 20 'entertainers' with /afk over their heads and macros churning away..
"any all tips accepted!"
"Please tip your entertainers! its how we make a living!"
"thanks for the heals!"
"thanks for the tip!"
"hi there!"
"thanks!"
...etc..etc..etc..
not to mention spam bots... but, lets not go there.
so, now that you've made it that much eiser for *anyone* to just pop all that stuff in a macro.... whats your next trick going to be? make the jedi's mini-gods? oh wait...... i think that already happened......
...

yes, its a mini-rant..
yes, i'm *not* quitting..
yes, I'll likely still be here when the servers shut off eventually...
but, my $$ every month, still give me at least a SMALL right to complain..
right?

Um, dude? My friend and I were making singing macros with lyrics within the first week of this game's launch. Who hasn't learned about macros at this point, aside from those who really could care less about 'em?

You forgot about the people spamming "Invite me to the group, I'M AUTOJOIN!!!!!"
It almost makes me want to make a character named Autojoin, just to make fun of them ... "Everybody else claims to be me, but I really AM Autojoin!"

nicmo that's really not the point. The point is that SOE has been saying that they will get rid of recursive macros and now they show us this? This is insane. I do not mind the macro guide. People deserve the knowledge of how to make a harvest/loot macro, but to teach newbies how to make an afk dance macro... not good SOE.

You forget the reason macros were put into the game in the first place: Savvy Computer folks would be able to macro reguardless, so they may as well be fair to the casual gamers.

Yea, you can AFK macro TKM and Fencer as long as I know. I used it for looting near cities, but I'm pretty sure you can use it (buffed and amored) for leveling. Also, CoB and Melee Attacks use to be macroed when fighting agains Mobs and leveling melee classes. Of course, PvP is another history.
For what I know, you can use recursive macros for almost any profesion while earning XP. But if you ask me, I'd say they are almost useles for Ranged profs.

they are. I couldn't grind fs xp nearly as easily as I do now without macros

i used a macro for pvp..
/warcry
/intimidate
/centerofbeing
/dizzy
/dizzy
/kd
then i used to switch to my hammer and incap the opponent... obviously depends on who ur fighting..it might or might not work.

I think thats the biggest point here... why bother getting rid of recrusive macros if they will just show everyone how to get around them?!? (people will still figure it out, sure, but why make it EASY??)
make a character named 'autojoin'... hahahah!

If melee profs can really autogrind combat exp faster than ranged, I think that's more of a matter of exp-rates being unequal for ranged vs melee - not that one is necessarily harder to set up a good macro for than the other.
