as soon as my combat skills are mastered, I wantto get intohunting and harvesting creature resources to sell on the market. Trouble is, I know next to diddly-squat about advanced crafting, so I don't know much about what I should be going after. What's in high-demandby artisan professions (and which profession), which quality attributes I should focus on since I know different craft items are more fussy about different attributes, and then based on that determining what cpu rate I can reasonably set for them. Are there any guides out therefor this?

The most profitable business for Scout/ranger is definitely avian & herbivore meat. These ressources are used by Doc to make buff pack.
On my server, when there is a good spawn, Doc will offer hunting contract for avian & herbi. The price can go from 40cpu to more than 200cpu. It all depends of the quality of the spawn and how many units you can harvest per mob.
Just follow the demand on your trade forum !

Some Tips:
I hear that solo groups will allow you to get more MOBs per lair that non-solo groups.
You must have a harvesting droid - period.
Veghash is good too (but often I won't use it because I don't feel like buying it)
Scout xx4x is a requirement, and if you can, Ranger xx4x would be much better.
Wild spawns of creatures give tons and tons more animals per lair than mission spawns.

Check out this post in the ranger forums for a guide on what creature resources are used by the different professions:

You might also want to browse the ranger forums and read some of the posts there.
As for how to price your resources? Most rangers don't. We don't need to, since most crafters have a hard time finding hunters. We basically just wait to be asked to harvest something and are told what CPU is being paid. Check your trade forums, or your server RIN (ranger information network) channel. I know for a fact wanderhome has one, as that's where our former correspondent resides. Basically it's a channel for rangers and crafters to buy/sell creature resources.
Your main buyers will be Doctors, BE's and Chefs for meat, and Armorsmiths for leather and wooly hide. Most crafters frequent RIN (check my sig for instructions on joining it on any server) and if there's a good shift they want, they'll be in that channel often to ask for people to hunt for them.
Doctors will always pay the highest for Avian and herbivore, but understand that if a doc is paying 150cpu for rori avian, and a Bio-Engineer is paying 40cpu for Dathomir carnivore, you're going to make money more easily by hunting on dathomir.
Also, go ahead and start your hunting now! You don't need to master your combat profession to start making lots of money. Most of us mastered rifles or whatever passively by just killing whatever had good resources.
