Can anyone tell me what good the Reactor Overload droid command is? I don't see any noticeable benefits when its activated, and I was thinking that maybe it allowed you to carry more components than your reactor normally allows, but you can't add components while in space, and the command isn't active on the ground, right?
I know it must be good for somehthing, so if anybody can tell me, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Oh, and since this is my first time posting anything, I have to say it - SWG is the greatest MMO on the market! I've played a lot of them, and even if I didn't love Star Wars, it would still be the best.
Thanks

Reactor overload gives you the options to save a nice little chunk of mass by overpowering your reactor. For example, your ships (all weapons/systems included) requires 13500 enegry gen to run properly. And lets say that you only have room for 3k of mass. Now you have a reactor that weighs 2.2k but only has a gen rate of 11700. Load that in, along with your droid/flight comp with the reactor overload command. When you get into space, some system will be non-operational due to late of energy. Using the reactor overload command, your reactor will take a few points of damage to the armor (aka condition) but will givve you a bump in energy output. This in turn will enable those latent systems and will stay active until you either stablize your reactor (never do that) or land.
Using that scenario, if you have a light reactor, around 2-3kmass, you can save about 6k mass on average. I do not know the amount that each level of overload generates, but someone else might.

I see, so you load the components on the ground, and even if they are red, when you get to space you can overload the reactor and those systems will be operational. Thanks, that helps a ton. I'm gonna go try it out.

There is nothing stopping you from overloading on the ground. That's why the numbers go red, instead of giving you a block up message like for mass. When you hit the V key in space to see your ship overview the, bottom systems will be marked as disabled, then when you run reactor overload, they come right online. I don't know the exact numbers for bonuses, but I tend to stick to the lower number programs and do less damage to my reactor. The program will remain in effect until you repair.
