Anyone here find that a joystick is BETTER than mouse and keyboard?
I went out and bought a nice Siatek Cyborg EVO-----very nice setup. Everything work great, except tracking a target; even with the faster throttle control, it's a total pain to track effectively. I've messed with the joystick sensitivity, but to no avail.
Anyone havea fix? Or have others found the same problem?
I've switched back to the mouse, with my $60 joystick back in the box for now.

I use a Sidewinder Precision Pro USB and it works wonderfully. I did spend most of Beta adjusting not just the sensitivity but also the dead zone so that the stick was properly responsive for me.
Once you get that input balanced, then it's just a matter of practicing with it. I'm sure there are people who are really good at flying and fighting with a mouse, but I'll never be one of them (I don't even use keyboard/mouse for first-person shooters, that's what the Strategic Commander is for)

ya agreed - i have a Saitek P2500 which is in effect a mock PS2 controller with USB connectivity. It works a treat, and I am as accurate as I am on console games with it

I have exactly the same joystick and I haven't noticed any problems with tracking targets. Mind you, I have never played any kind of flight sim with a mouse and keyboard so it might be more accurate - just not with me doing it.
I have found that lag gives me a bit of an issue - I am leading the target seemingly perectly but the bolts are just missing and I need to account for that, but that will come when I am more used to the game.

Microsoft Force Feedback2 here. Dead Zone set at 0% and Sensitivity at 75% on the bars. Works perfectly, but I turned off the Force Feedback effect and left just the recentering force. Although I like having force feedback in flight sims (helps tremendously when flying near stall speeds, you can feel the wings buffeting and such), I kinda disagree that there is a recoil on blasters and disruptors.

I just modded an extension cord and an old USB mouse I had around to get my xbox controller plugged in.
Got the drivers and the utility works great - now I need help with a keyboard mapping.
Can someone share how they setup various commands on their xbox controller - I'm a total newb to JTL so I don't know what commands I need to use/be aware of/all that good stuff.
Thanks!
