Are you kidding?
Why does my launchpad do what seems like a FULL SCAN every time i start it?
Even when I look at my account info and close the screen, it processes login again and does another full scan. So basically it takes 5 minutes every time i want to log in to play SWG. Its getting to be a joke. why does it even have to scan a bit anyway? If its not right then close the game. I dont want to have to sit here for ages waiting for the launchpad to scan gig's of files each time i wanna play. You mayaswell put an anti virus system in the launchpad too and scan for that while its doing it.

There's a solution to this in the Tech Support forum, search for it instead of whining.

Was it talking about the launch pad? I think it meant actually loading into the game. Last time I did it, it loaded quite a bit faster.

deko there is not a solution in tech forums, alot of people are having this problem and so far it is still active. I posted in here hoping someone else had solved the problem as not that many read the tech forums. So before you start flaming others and making pointless posts i suggest you read the tech forums in more detail.

I have to agree that this new scanning is terrible. Plus it's 100X worse when I duel log on to my doctor, because the 5 minute scan turns in to a 15 or 20 minute scan with the lag 2 clients creates.

Just a question. How much RAM do you have? When I had 512 my load times were close to 2 minutes. Since I upgraded to 1024 They dropped to under a minute. I haven't timed it but it seems to toke between 30-40 seconds.

Maybe they forced fullscan today, to make sure people got updated files, and don't submit bug reports because they haven't used full scan since last christmas

Load times have increased for me too, launchpad is ok and loading up at the starports is really quick. I'm usually the first to load up even at coronet. I do have 1 gig of ram and a 2.5ghz processor, that might help.

Don't know if this is an option for you but you may also want to try a serial RAID 0 array (made aHUGE difference for me).
My launchpad load times are well under 15 seconds (probaly closer to 10) before I hit the play button. Travel between planets / starport load time iseven less.
Loading, swapping and scanning all that data through a single IDE device is certainly the slowest link in the chain and plenty of RAM will help with swapping issues. This will not effect game performance / lag issues but it will speed up all types of loads in a very big way.
I'm running dual 120 gig native serial (no adapters) drives in a RAID 0 configuration.
I'd list the rest of my system components but I don't want to get flamed for bragging. ;-) Seriously, this will really help you tho'.
