Cool feature. Do you think it would be possible to get in-game emails forwarded to out-of-game email addresses? Some people conduct business and it would be helpful to be able to read, or send mail while out of game.

This is great! I am glad to see the chat system we have in EQ making it to this game! The out of game chat ability we had in EQ was awesome.

But the best chat feature ever implemented in EQ was /rt used with the tab key. This allowed you to return a tell to someone without having to type their name AND insure that the tell went to that person. The tab key would allow you to toggle through the list of names you had received tells from during the current log in period. Once you selected the name you wanted to send a return tell to, the system would automatically put their name at the beginning of the chat line. So you could have something like this:

/tell Horrible`name-totypeout

come up on your /rt + TAB selection and then you would just type what you wanted to say without worry that your tell might get intercepted by an incoming tell to you or to find out that you spelled their name wrong and had to re do it.

I would buy an expansion pack just for this feature! (I hope we don't have to wait that long though)

My tip:

got someone you chat with regularly that has a name that's long or hard to remember how its spelled ? Or, get lots of tells from lots of friends but don't want to rely on /r or whatever? Make an alias. I have a friend who's name is Wierzbowski. I couldn't remember how to spell it for the longest when I first met him. So I made an alias that goes like this:

/alias wski /tell wierzbowski

When I want to send him a tell, I type /wski blah blah. Much simpler and faster and totally accurate and will not get intercepted and become a mistell if I get a tell right when I hit the enter button. I have several aliases set up now for the friends I chat with regularly.

Oculus, I used "Luuke" because it can't be used as a player name (I think), so I don't have to worry about some poor fella being spammed by people trying out my example. Consider it the "555-XXXX" number you always see in films.

there is a guy on Kauri with the name Luke Sheppard ...the CSRs say its ok but the faq says: "Characters can't be named after anyone in the films, books, or comics. If you try to create a character named Lando Calrissian, or even variations such as Bob Calrissian or Lando Jones, the name will be rejected. "

i just tried making a new character with those names...for Bob Calrissian it says i cant use the name of a major SW character, but for Lando Jones it says the name is taken.

Nope. I tried with a friend and you don't do anything. No message, no email, and no money movement. Too bad cuz it would make sharing between your own accounts so much more enjoyable!
