Like I said, not everyone can make that, to assume everyone knows how or has the desire is wrong.

Because not every doctor has your template.

I hope not, Master Doc, Master Shipwright would suck for trying to get Avian Meat.

Because buying those resources as opposed to gathering them is what the majority of doctors do.

The Profit is still there, smaller but still in the 2.25-2.65x area.

Because people continue to feel it's fair enough to pay it.

Never debated this, it's the people that can't pay this or see no reason for the prices (as there is none) that I'm concerned about.

I'm not a doctor and probably never will be and I can clearly see why they charge what they do.

I'm a Doc, been a Doc, and I don't. I think my viewpoint might be a little more valid as you don't know everything that comes with it. That's rather short sighted to say. But as you just mentioned, they charge that because people will pay it. That's a very bad justification for people that can't pay it.

Eh, I paid 12k last night for a 1900 buff because I was paying for convenience and I figured the guy was probably a struggling Doc who needed the money more than I need it. Of course I also gave a new dude 12k so he could get one too. I don't make a habit of that, but again, it's not much to me, but a big help to him. Well, that and the fact that he wasn't begging or being a jerk in any way.

Convenience is afactor too. You'll pay more for grocery items atthe corner7-11 than you would at the grocery store because you're paying for convenience.

Some of my pet peeve bugs:
•Armorsmith protection layers were not converted with the CU.
•Ship Details window does not close when you click "Travel" resulting in the message "You have lost the target. Closing interface."

Agreed. Nice example, that person would have probably not been able to get a buff had you not helped.

I have on many occasions buffed people for free or accepted a greatly reduced fee and have even returned tips. Thats if I truly believe the person is new and or poor. The problem is there are some people that "Play" new to get tips and freebees. Most of the time a person will /tell me and ask ifit's ok to pay this lower than normal fee, as they are lowon credits or broke. And I usually accept it or do it for free. I say up front what my buff stats are and tell people to pay me what they consider fair value. I'm usually tipped between 10k and 15k, and even 20k or better a time or two. And I always thank them even if its lower than the 10k. After all, I did tell them to decide. But a few times some clowns have only given me 5 credits or 1 credit. I should probably wait until I see the tip before I buff them, but I'd like to think most people are honest, so as soon as they say yes, I start buffing them. I also imagine they may want to see the actual quality of the buffs before tipping. I just dont think this is as big an issue or problem that you think it is. If it gets to the point where I'm not making enough in credits or the market dies, I'll move on to something else. And I dont actually spend all my time buffing in a starport anyway. I felt it was more of a service than a business.

Lets also not forget that sitting their for hours and hours buffing isnt exactly as much fun as you might think. Their is a conciderable charge for this I think.

Apprenticeship XP is SOE's way of telling me that my hours of grinding to get to where i can get mastery is gonna be interrupted by a 1-2 week process of training other people who probably are gonna use NPC trainers....sounds like my idea of fun...

Well nobody force you to have Master Doctor under your name and force you to sit there for hours. Right?

I'm running a test, just for my own giggles.

I sat inTheed Saturday for 2 hours buffing for tips:

1 Person was buffing for 1800 for 2 hours 20 minutes and charging 12k

1 Person was buffing for 2100 for 3 hours even andcharging 14k

I was buffing for 2300 for 3 hours 35minutes (-Phear-'s Meds) for Tips.

Average people in line 4 (non Peak)

Average Buff ~18k

Lowest 1 credit

Highest 100k

I then flew to Coronet and buffed there for about 45 minutes. It was pretty dead and there was a Village Doc there needing exp, I helped the waiting people (made a deal that if they already payed him I would buff them for free so they didn't have to wait.

Average people in line 1

Average buff ~8k (with the free people) (Still a 200% profit)

Lowest 0 credits

Highest 20k

I then flew to Dantooine Mining Outpost and buffed for the next 10 hours.

There was two other people there from time to time.

2300 for 3 hours for 12k (I might have influenced that)

2300 for 3 Hours 30 minutes for 15k and 40k to skip the line.

Average people in line ~8

Average buff 17k

Lowest 10 credits

Highest 80k

My point here is that with -Phear- or my own buffs the break even point is 800credits, or 4000credits per buff set. A few people asked to skip the line and I refused (one offered 100k and kept raising as if challenging.) Then I answered that he should be tipping the people ahead of him in line, he was good humored and so was the line. I'm pretty social and had fun.

Point being:

Everyone got a buff, and I gained ~400% my investment. I'm half way to making the money back that I spent on -Phear-'s awesome buffs and I have ~35 packs left in the crates...

With the above numbers:
Cost Per Buff Set: 848 credits
Cost Per Single Stat Buff: 142 credits
Resource Per Single Stat Buff: ~260 units

And we pay this much for buffs..... why?

Well you can do the same analysis with other crafting professions. Without going into the same detail;

AT21 rifle takes 697unitsof resource to make, These usually go for 20k+ unsliced. Since we do not take time or resource quality into the mix why are all weaponsmiths ripping us off, they should be charging 2k max because 300% profit is more than enough.

AComposite Chest peicetakes 572units of resource to make, These usually go for 30k+ unsliced. Since we do not take time or resource quality into the mix why are all Armorsmiths ripping us off, they should be charging 2k max because 300% profit is more than enough.

Again, as the point has been brought up several times before, I will answer it in the same way. A T-21 will last longer than 3 hours. If you log out for 45 minutes, you still have the T-21, if you are killed by a DJK on Dantooine 5 minutes after you buy your T-21 you still have it.
