I'm Imperial and a master smuggler to boot. I have done the missions for the Talus Space station. You simply cannot be an Imperial PILOT. If you are neutral or rebel pilot then you will be able to do the missions.

They worded it differently however, making it possible for paying customers to believe differently. Most of the problems come form the DEV's inability to communicate effectively with their customer base.

You can't be "ground Imperial" and be a Rebel pilot at the same time. Meaning if you are a "ground Imperial" and you are a Smuggler and you want to do the Talus mission, your only pilot proffession choice is some flavor of privateer.
Fair? It could be, if soon they introduced missions for ground Smugglers who are also Imperial pilots. As long as they don't, no, it is not fair. I see the difficulty tho, as in thoses Talus mission you are killing TIEs. Mm comflict of interest?
Two solutions, alter the Talus mission so the objectives are not Imperial ships. Or leave it as it is and allow Imperial pilot to take the missions and to kill Imperial ships in thoses missions. I mean, when you are a corrupted member of some army, comflict of interest are bound to happen.
Mmm could suck because of the Imp faction hit tho. Of course you don't want to do missions to LOSE faction.
