Thread: Star Wars Names: The Name Doctor is IN!
You know The Khayembii Communique?
That's amazing. The name is just so bad ass.
Hi, Riis
Great post!
How's Nat'lihea Ra'jea? Twilek entertainer (future dancer)
A human named Mitt'Raw Nuruodo
(Wish I were Chiss and could name myself Mitt'raw'nuruodo
and yes I'm a fan of GA Thrawn )
Satchmo Squiddillious
No. Though I give you full credit for picking a good musician to be unoriginal from. But cross-genre name borrowing is generally a no-no as you have probably observed above. And the last name...tee hee, but no.
Indy Awweegea
I pondered this name a little bit, but the Indy seemed a bit much, way too derivative of ol Indy Jones himself. Awweegea is kind of nice sounding, but the spelling is a little TOO phonetic. An alternative name would be Inde, Indei, Iendee...
Gregor Bolingor
Gregor is a fine name for fighting on the Russian Front. It has the advantage of being fairly unknown, but to me strikes as too much in the human department. Perhaps this is because of the last name you have chosen. Gregor Bolingor reminds me of a Tom Clancy hero...or villain. Hmm, some changes would have to be Grigur Bolngor, or maybe Gregir Bulengur. Hmm...
Telo Oato
Seems okay from here, though the number of "o"s in the full name dries my mouth out. Since I don't want to get a reputation for trashing names, we'll call it good here.
Ure Edabok
Try to imagine a snake ssaahhying OOOrrree. Snakes in fiction don't like to do the "O" sound. Trandoshans, being from a quite "primative" culture, tend to have one nice long, sibilant sounding name.
Mitt'Raw Nuruodo
Have we met? This name looks familiar. Ah yes, Thrawn's Chiss name. Well, that is something of a no-no my friend. That would be like me watching a panda in the zoo for a while and saying, hmm, maybe I should be called Ling-Ling. Chiss names are for Chiss, human names for humans. Can you file off the serial numbers and keep it? Maybe..maybe not. Mitraw Nurodo would work, I suppose.
Krinn Malborn
Krinn...as in the place? I like this name, but it carries a heavy load going in from good ol' Dragonlance. Yes, I know the spelling and heart are different, but our generation sparks on names quite a bit. Malborn is a fine name...makes me think you were born under a bad moon or something. Very nice last name.
Herret Sharpe
You know, Sean Bean is one of my favorite actors, even before Lord of the Rings, and I am trying to imagine a Bothan in Napoleonic uniform leading his ragtag band of soldiers across Spain. Now, what in the previous has to do with Star Wars? Right. The name is cool, because it sounds cool, but in this case it's TOO cool...and definitely NOT Bothan. Herret Sha'rup or some such may be a saving grace here.
Whew, another quick post. I'll try to get back to worksheets again, but you folks in the big lists above are getting about the same attention.
