Thread: Sean and Victor, Guide to Voting in the Bestine Election
You can give the disk to the informant? Did you get anything for that?

Make your game play more than just going to get the items. Explore, look around and try to get the most out of your experience

1. Well, the developer picked a month because that seemed like a realistic time frame.

Um, it's more than "just going to get items", many of us do several things at once, and are perfectly capable of exploring in search of what we desire in terms of "material" posessions in SWG.
It seems that you guys got this one TOTALLY backwards. Rebel flags are static quest loot, and Imperial Flags may or may not ever show up unless artificially tweaked.
Rebel flags should be very rare, and Imperial flags should be ubiquitous.
Please don't tell those of us who want to actually access content that is already in-game but not "available" that we should stop and smell the roses - the sweet smell has become a mocking stench.

ThunderHeart,
While that response may work for any number of players, it doesn't really make much sense to those of us who've been playing since June 26. Make my game play more than just going to get items? How would you suggest I go and do that?
I've mastered untold professions working towards Jedi. (Before you all decided to say "Even though we promoted the Holocrons and gave everyone one for Christmas, we've decided to make those, and all your profession grinding and credits spent/wasted for nothing.)
I've done all the Themeparks. Twice.
I've done all the NPC Missions. Twice.
I've completed the Warren.
I've completed the Cries of Alderaan Story-arc.
I've killed one of every creature in the game on all the planets.
I've joined a faction that means nothing in a game full of wanna be Luke Skywalkers.
I've collected almost every Badge currently obtainable.
So ThunderHeart I guess my question is: When you've done almost everything in the game and Master untold professions - then what? Do I log in and just /idle because there's nothing left for me to do? Do I continue to pay per month when I've done it all? Or should I ask questions/offer suggestions in an attempt to find any small bit of direction in this game?
Now I gotta tell you, I'm quite...disappointed...in the "response" you gave me. You give no logical reason as to why Rebels can obtain a banner so easily, but Imperials are stuck waiting every single month, hoping that they might get their Banner. You even let Rebels affect our chances of getting the banner by letting them vote. How is this fair to the Imperial players? You basically say "Tough. You Imperials just have to deal with it. Oh, but look at that pretty visual over there..."
Maybe one day, this game will feel like it should. Of course all we really have to do, is wait far enough into the "timeline" to where it's the Rebels over the Imperials...and then everyone will be happy. Every Rebel, that is.
Sorry if this sounds rude...it's just how I feel right now. Take it with a grain of salt.

Look at it this way... Imperials can potentially get the banner more than once. And then they really could be everywhere. The Rebels can only get their banner once when they do their theme park with the new loot. (now if only they'd boot the rebels out of being able to vote... Is this even confirmed that rebel factioned players can vote in the election? "Sorry, sir, we can't allow you to vote. Your name has been associated with certain rebel activities." sort of message if you're covert and "GUARDS!" if you're overt! heh.)
I would agree that the voting cycle does seem a bit long. Maybe this first voting cycle is longer than it will be in the future just to make sure some bugs are ironed out on the TC first? Maybe some compromise can be reached on this. A month does seem an awfully long time to wait for a quest reward that ya might not even win. And then if there are alternate prizes, ya might not even get the one that you want and have to wait a whole other month.
My two cents...
Let's say that the cycle was only one week long. People would vote once a week, not for game play, but for the banner from Victor. The immense proliferation of Imp banners would insitgate more whining from rebels as they can have only one banner from their quest park. Let's also say that with the one week cycle causes bugs, which can happen for one reason or another, and people don't get the banners they voted for. What would happen? People would be here whining even more.
One month is fine for the first go around. There are a ton of people who vote, the system must tally those votes and register who voted and who gets what. Remember that the ratio of people on reg servers to the test centre is is immense, maybe 100:1. The first cycle will show a trendline for how many people are taking advantage of this aspect of the game. After the first go around, the devs have established a trend to base the next election cycle voting expectations. Let's say that only 50,000 people particpate in the voting when they expected 100,000 people, the devs may reduce the time to reflect the voting interest.
One month may be a litmus test for voter turnout. Let's see what happens after the first cycle is done, and pass judgment afterwards.
Any complaining before that is counter-productive. Particpation in the election demonstrates interest in further in-game sub-plots. Let the Devs hear your voice that way, not by whining on the boards.

First off: Nothing I said was "whining" in any way, shape or form. I asked and posed valid questions/arguements, and did not "piss and moan." For you to say I was whining is nothing short of a troll response and completely unwarranted.
My concerns Timanous, is that based on Sean giving a quest and one of 3 different types of items (rug/painting/statue,) and Victor giving no quest, and either an Imperial banner or painting; Most people will argueably choose Sean over Victor. My other concern is why is it the Rebel population can vote and affect our chances at our banner, and yet we do not get the same curteousy? Are we not s'possed to be the Imperial Empire? Should we not have access to the same display of pride as our counterparts? And why should Rebels who are s'possed to be in hiding, have easier access to openly display their pride, when we as constituents of the Empire do not?
Now, I've no beef with the Political Quest per se, my problem is that the game has nothing to shoot for so it leaves those who have been here since Day1 lacking direction or purpose. And no offense, but I should not have to basically pay for another 2-3 months to get a banner when it's so much easier to obtain for Rebels.
Call me what you will, make assumptions if you want...I'm just getting tired of feeling like this game is nothing but one gigantic themepark for Rebels.
Limbonik,
I agree with what you are saying, and I don't recall singling you out. There is a general atmosphere of whining around this issue from previous posts. Your points were and are valid. My argument is to simply give it itme.
I also feel that the Rebels are given a unfair advantage. Consider that the Empire is the supreme force in the galaxy, yet the rebels seem to have it pretty easy compared to Imps. I can understand Corellia, for example, being relatively Empire-free as that is part of the story, but their missions and rewards for said missions appear to be better than those of the Imperials. It is unfair considering the Star Wars storyline has Rebels driven into hiding, but when there are significantly more Rebel players than Imperial players, the balance will forever seem skewed in their favour. The only weay to get more players to the Imperial side is to incite them to join through better missions and better rewards, which may come through such issues as voting in Bestine and the current Crackdown.
In a nutshell, we all need a bit of patience to see where the Devs will take us in the next couple of months. Who knows what they have for us in the future...

But, you forgot.... even the Devs are overwhelmingly Rebels.
The better question is, when is the Imperial side going to get proper representation in the developer ranks?
wow, Th actualy responded to a post I started. I feel honered.
Im updating to version 2 right now with all the new information.
