Not only is it contridicting that they don't like AFK play, they are posting something that was made by an AFK loot macro person from eclipse.JChase29 would camp the borgle caves with 3rd party macros to get skill tapes, way to support the exploiters /sigh.

The most helpful two macros I have ever made are:
Finding Sample Location:
  1. **Keep your vehicle targeted at all times**
  2. Open your Survey tool and choose a resource
  3. Hit the ALT key
  4. Manually mount your vehicle/mount
  5. Begin the macro by hitting the F# key on the tool bar
  6. Ride to the nearest location then hit the F# key again

/dismount; /pause 3; /survey; /pause 2; /mount;

Who has that kind of time? LOL. I use:

/dismout; /pause 1; /survey; /mount;

Two other points: One, make sure your vehicle is at a complete, or nearly complete stop before using the macro or you will fly off your vehicle and be too far away to re-mount. I prefer a speeder bike as it stops faster than a swoop. Two, if you press ALT again while driving, you can actually open the survey tool while mounted.

Definitely one of the most useful macros out there.

Add /target speederbike; prior to /mount. It will target your swoop for you so you don't have to keep it selected all the time.

LOL

It's fun to see Verant post a game guide 15 months after game debut, that still tells people to loop using /ui toolbarSlot**

Folks, this is not a first rate Macro guide. Real guides do exist - check Stratics, Warcry and the other decent independent sites. A well crafted macro can still do wonders, and advanced macro'ing is still an enjoyable challenge that improves your understanding of the game.

As for the Socializer nag squad, trust me, all this info on AFK macroing has been out for over a year, there is nothing new, everybody who wants to AFK dance/perform already knows how to do it, so take a break and go get a sandwich or something.

** The right way to do it, if for example your macro is named ShootChuba, is to end the macro with

/macro ShootChuba

which frees you from any dependence on a specific F-key and Toolbar.

Bonus tip for loyal readers: There are a variety of actions that you can perform in a Macro that take a brief moment of game time before they are actually "complete." If you chain a series of commands in a macro without taking this into account, you will "outrace" the game actions and mess up. One example is /target - another is /mount . Whenever you use either of these, or the /ui action targetXXXX commands, you're better off following them with a

/pause 0.1;

before moving on to the next command.

Wow. I mean, just, wow.

Never mind the fact that a lot of it is inaccurate and out of date, the fact that you, the devs of this game, who have told us you don't like AFK macroing and want it to go away, would post that as a Friday Feature...

Just wow.

Edit: Sorry, it's not a Friday Feature. It's a "Featured Game Guide." Whatever. It still makes me ill.

I see the Golgafrinchans are out with their one-stars. As if to care

For the N-ty-Nth time, let me remind you that one of the key reasons SWG was originally set up with a robust macro language was so that automated play would not be the EXCLUSIVE province of third party keystroke hackers as it is with so many other games. And the game designers get full credit for that decision.

What these fool entertainers are missing with their anti-AFK quest is that when and if they succeed in browbeating TEH DEVZ into taking away the rich macro functionality SWG was designed with, there will be no more AFK tags in the cantina, be sure of that. Instead, there will be a bunch of very convincing simulacra using 3rd party code that the average shmuck has no chance of using. So it will be the haves and the have-nots like the other games, which is what SWG wanted to avoid. Not that the Golgas care!

The worst thing about this "game guide" is how antiquated and stale it is - my guess is that they have no pipeline for fresh, useful, interesting new material, so they have to scrape around for what's out there that they actually understand.

some quick corrections, I didn't get to far in the list. /bodyshot3 is not the most damageing attack healthshot 2 is. /disarming shot does not target someones weapon.

With all due respect, the command list you guys posted is hardly a full one... Please, players arent dumb, if you are going to call it a "Full Command List", then give us one.. Below is a list that I got by typing // ingame. It is much larger than the list you posted. I have marked in red the commands that I would like explained (in detail) and given an example on how its used.. These commands have to do with harvester function.

I have to say, that I as a Active lone player find having macros a great enhancement to the game. I do not necessarily feel the AFK macro-ing is a good thing. However, I do feel that having a macro to help speed up tedious things, like crafting, is rewarding. When grinding through a profession like medic, or artisan, having a macro to reduce the mouse clicks when crafting is great. No I do not grind AFK.I baby sit the macro, and add my resources. I by nature am a role-player, and not much for power gaming and all out PVP. I want to Play my role as my character, not waste hours grinding away doing tedious repetitive tasks. Macros make it easier to be social and interact and play my character, while grinding away at my chosen profession(s). Its much easier to only have to double click every few seconds, and cary on a conversation with my fellow players.

I did my first two boxes of medic crafting manually. It was tedious, I almost gave up the game. I only have a limited amount of time to play. And I would rather be using that time to enjoy the Star Wars Universe, not be staring at a crafting tool. Now don't get me wrong, that are times that crafting is enjoyable. The interface is actually very well designed. But from a role-players point of view its time consuming and lonely.

Macro's them selves are not our bane. Its the abuse of macros, That is. /stepOffsoapbox

I am However disappointed in this guide. I would have hoped the the Devs, would have taken the time to give us an updated, and more accurate game guide. Macros are not even truly covered in the Holocron, or printed users guide. I had to learn macro-ing from the forums, and by doing google searches. That being said I have seen much better Macro Making guides. This one is a decent start, but falls short of being The full macro How-to. I would Hope someone more skilled at macro-ing will take the time to Submit a more comprehensive guide. I also noticed that there is no mention to the rhyme or reason of how to select a schematic when setting up macro for crafting.

Fast guide to be a PVPer.

Choice this professions: CM, Doc, rifleman, fencer,bh and jedi. Support: pikeman, tka, mbrawler, mmarksman, carabineer.

Choice a good mix: doctor-rifleman, cm-rifleman, rifleman-doc/cm, fencer-cm, tka-cm, pikeman-cm/doc, jedi knight, fencer-rifleman, tka-rifleman, bh-tka, bh-fencer, bh-pikeman or bh-pistoleer.

Buy or loot DOT or uber weapons: mind poison, fire mind, great poison action/healt or strong fire.

Special attack: dizzy/kd, mind shot, mind hit, apply poison mind.

Weapons type: Over all stunweapons, jawa rifle, genosian pistol, stun baton,or acid: scatter, acid rifle... or greatAPweapon: T21 rifle.

Buffs: All, doctor and entertaiment buffs,vasarian brandy, canape, synsteak, trakitillo.

Armour:composite stun and PSG.

No choice other profession, stun damage rule, poison rule, doctor heal poison, cm is poison king, rifleman is mind hit king. Only works profession that cause mind damage o great DOT damage (mind DOT is the best).

You can choice support profession: carabiner-doctor, tka-mbrawler-medic, pistoleer-smuggler... but if you go solo, you die. Someone professions only cause damage if use DOT weapons: pistoleer, tka, pikeman, swordman... etc. The kings of PVP are rifleman and fencer + doc or cm.

Please, repair PVP, is a great issue. I want all combat profession useless in pvp, no only mind/poison shooter.

Hmm, we were really hurting this week I guess. A year old ex-player post re-hashed into this weeks game guide?And it's not even the best macro guide out there. It's inaccurate and uses old loop methods

*boggle* Huh?

  1. There are much better ways to macro that have become popular since this guide came out almost a year ago... no one uses /ui action any more, /macro is much more useful and more commonly used now

  2. "Quick armor changes to avoid sitting around in your underwear" are a thing of the past - We were told we weren't supposed to be changing armor and weaps fast like that and now have a forced delay... I think the armor change still forces you to be in undies during the change, no?

  3. How does this jive with Tyrant's recent statements on getting rid of recursive macros and how they are harmful to the game?

I personally love the macro system in this game and am bummed with the decision to nerf it so heinously instead of actually dealing with the design problems that are creating the perceived need to "over use" the system like we are seeing.... but I'm confused. Is the Dev team dedicated to the current macro system and willing to support it through future design changes that will keep it's massive ability in mind? Or is it being abandoned because it's "too powerful" and needs to be nerfed?

Which is it? This is just a very confusing message you are sending with this very out dated guide.
