Thread: I think i found the most uberest stacking profession.

Yep....But someone please tell me, did i find the most uberest profession or what?
not really.... for the most part as i know, dodge only works if you are using a weapon from the skills example: a tkm that dabbles in pistoleer for dodge will not have the dodge stats stick unless they are holding a pistol. Also, Melee defense is capped at 125, anything more is just wasted sp.

stackers are not bad....people just hate the fact that they can't just kill them easily and have to really work and use good strategy to beat them.
Combat nerf, I mean upgrade (yeah right) will eliminate stacking. It will be rock, paper, scissors. So you choose a move and other guy chooses, and somebody takes a whack or blocks.
Rock, paper, Scissors is cool to a certain extent, but it takes away from user interaction a bit. It's not strategic in any way and is totally based on luck. If the whole combat system came down to this then I might as well make a combat macro and watch some tv while the randomness of rock, paper, scicssors plays out (oh but wait, macro's are getting nerfed too)...I mean if it's based on this logic then the stats of my character don't mean anything. It becomes a matter of who chose the better move to execute and that's it. This idea will lessen the players interaction and puts combat more into how well the numbers are implemented into the game (which we probablywon't be able to manipulateenough to make a big difference)rather than how the player thinks and what kind of strategy they use.
See what I like about stacking is the fact it gives you choices. I don't have to sit there and take massive damage from having low defense while I decide how I want to tackle any given situation (this gives the opportunity to change up strategy in the middle of a fight). I may or may not like to be rushed into quick decisions. For me, I like to take my time but when your taking massive damage, you don't have time to waste cause you'll die.....to me, no defense or low defense means rushing and rushing is not gonna make a favorable outcome for me. to be a defense stacker to the highest degree means that you are sacrificing a lot of offensive power.....and if the current system allows you to have extreme defense while still wielding some of the most powerful attacks in the game...then thats the problem and needs to be changed.when you make the choice to stack your defenses, you lose the versatility of using powerful moves from multiple professions, you do less damage than someone who chooses to master 3 professions because the most effective stacking won't allow you to master more than 2 professions. It's just like commando.....that profession has the most powerful attacks in the game but virtually has no defense at all except the armor they can wear.....then you look at fencer and the defense is the best in the game, but the offense is the weakest in the game (yes even with acklay stun batons which is bad design by the devs....low or no stun protection on armoris basically the problem here)....so stun damageis the exception here.
there should be 3 basic choices you should have to make for your combat character.
1). do you want powerful offense (virually every combat profession has a very effective special that does good - excellent damage)
2). doyou want the most effective defense (which means stacking unless the devs give each profession significant defense increases)
3). do you want a balance of both but not powerful in either. (theres many options for this already)
Oh yeah, 3a) do you not want to fight at all....and be a peaceful person....maybe a crafter (in which case, combat means nothing to you
)
To take away the ability to stack defense at all would leave a lot a players helpless in some regard. There are so many powerful offensive attacks in the game that without stacking or the luck of the draw from defensive status effects wouldn't give anyone a defensive advantage. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't want a game where my defensive opportunities are limited but offense is only limited by the shear numbers of the weapon you wield (whichs seems to have no cap right now besides the quality of the resources used)....that gives me the feeling of not being in control of my character ......sure increase the uber weapons but take away defense stacking (so people get hit more, take more damage, die more, clone more, insure more and for jedi's lose more xp or whatever they lose now).
personally I'd like to see a combination of things.....don'tradically change anything as far as offense and defense mods go....but balance them a bit more so that neither offense nor defense totally rule in any given situation....this would mean that I would have to actually sit at my keyboard and the choices I make will effect the outcome of the fight....not some random number system which I have no control over whatsoever....and certainly not rock, paper, scissors. I understand the RPG number system and how the rolls work....but by changing the mods on my character, I can affect those rolls in my favor.....
I believe the armor is the single most biggest problem in this game....then there's the buff system that adds to it...then there's the food buffs...then there's the defense stacking. take a defensive stacker, give him all of the above and yes they become uber when the person behind the screen is a well seasoned veteran. So fix the armor, then fix the buffs and defense stacking won't be as big a problem as people seem to think it is....it's the armor mainly....because you can always fail DC rolls of MD, RD, counterattack, block and dodge all at the same time......then you take full damage right....but wait, the armor is still there....now you only take 10% damage because your armor is 90% resistance to energy. then the person on the other end is not a defense stacker but has all the uber offensive specialsthey can possibly get.....oops! that armoryour target is wearing basically cancels out 90% of your uber specials...what do you do now, Uhm die or run....even if you outdamage them by 50%, you end up taking more damage due to low defense and that they have high defense and high armor......see the problem....was it the defense stacking or was it the armor.....defense mods fail DC rolls all the time...armor never ever fails unless it's at zero condition or you get hit with the armor hole bug.

Notice that you melees dont say that when it coems to range stacking, of course there's a reason for it, we can't stack for crap, and it sure doesnt give us the boost it gives you melees.
