Umm... heh. It's an MMORPG, with literally thousands of other people playing at the same time as you. If you were to 'pause' the game, everyone else would have to be stopped too.

I run Ubuntu Linux and play SWG with Cedega. Give the live CD a try, you'll like it

In
my mind the absolutely most IDIOTIC thing ever said about SWG.

Well, the problem is that it's not just your game, thousands of other people are in the same world at the same time.

For bathroom breaks, answering the phoneand such, just stop your character in some safe place. Wait a few seconds to make sure nothing aggressive is spawned close by, and go. This can be in the middle of the wilderness, in a camp, or inside a public building.

Note: it's probably a bad idea to do this while overt, players move around much more than creatures.

Stop making his life difficult. It is a macro you need to use:

/yell I am going to the bathroom! Everyone please stay where you are until I return!
/pause 120;
/quit;

Thanks!!

Putting on my friendly helpful cap...

Given the nature of the game itself, the notion of 'pause' as you've described above doesn't apply directly to SWG. That said, there are many ways to achieve a 'reasonably safe' not-at-keyboard state for your character.

Typically, you might...

1. Wait until any temporary enemy flags (TEFs) have expired.

2. Go into a house. If youare'overt', then you preferably wanttouse your house, aprivate house withshort entry and admin lists,a house without vendors, and/or a house 'off the beaten path'.

3. If you are overt, then you might want to toggle your away-from-keyboard notification (by typing /afk). Some folks of opposite faction will respect that, considering it 'unchallenging' to tank an AFK player. Others will attack regardless of your AFK state. The key point -- best not to leave your keyboard while overt.

4. If you have at least novice entertainer, do...

/startdance basic

5. If you don't have at least novice entertainer, you'll likely need a looping macro to foil the AFK-idle-disconnect logic.

The /pause command is a way to queue up a set of action in sequence, with a time lag between them.

For example:

hi mom;/pause 10;/hi dad

Will greet your mom, wait 10 seconds, and then greet your dad.
