That is a bug list, not a guide for new players! You want to show new players what they can do, not what they can't. Why make it a negative experience before they've even started?
Despite all the bugs Ranger is still one of the most fun professions in the game to play. I would encourage anyone to give it a try, bugs and all.

How about to save them time and aggravation then. I wish someone had told me how broken this profession was before i spent a month mastering it. I kept thinking its gotta be good at master so keep going. Bleh...
And to the other poster... I know all about supplying people with hides and yes I would pay 14k for Buffs and not complain. Fact is, most hides are supplied by scouts, not rangers.
Also, in response to another post here about tracking. Tracking is a complete waste of time for the most part. Many times a mob will not spawn until you approach it. I always laugh when I see trackers out looking for a gdk or a krayt. If you do luck out and track one, its simply because someone else ran by and spawned it (in which case most likely already killing it)

Wow...quite the set of responses! Thank you to those defending Rangers and to those who are talking down about Rangers all I have to say is
.
This guide was put together as a description of Ranger skills and not their limitations. Notice that I didn't even put numnbers to the skill mods, I just described the actual skills. I do not think it is appropriate to use a guide to a profession as a place to try to affect changes to a proffession.
The Ranger forum is the place for discussions on the pros and cons of being a Ranger. Anyone is welcome to ask "Why should I be a Ranger?" and other such questions. We are always brutally honest with anyone that asks anyhting in the Ranger forum.
Thanks for reading the guide, peeps!

even if some stuff is wrong with it, ranger is the best profession in the game. (not being sarcastic)
you can track animals which is a very useful skill. easy money tracking and harvesting creatures that can go for 200 cpu sometimes when uber meat spawns. someone mentioned before that its more effective to just ride around on your speeder. this is simply not true, tracking lets you see everything within 500m radius. thats 500m to the left, right, behind you and infront of you. VERY useful skill in finding anything, considering most of the quests in this game consist of running around randomly in the wild looking for spawns. it can be buggy sometimes but its still a great skill.
even if camps are nessisary, they are really cool. especially the high tech field base which is like an outdoor house. many people are amazed when you whip a small outpost out of your pocket and its funny how they react sometimes. useful for resting on group hunts and add to the cool factor of ranger.
camo kits are awesome too. at master ranger they hardy ever break except when you encounter a krayt or something. they also shield your scent from enemy npcs which can be VERY useful since half the hostiles you find in the wild are npcs.
ranger is just a bunch awesome skills. it pretty good as it is and still useful, but it could be much better. devs really need to get with the program and make ranger even better.

Things that need to be added to this guide
1) /camo is less effective and more liable to break than /maskscent
2) camps are pointless as droids and speeders can be brought out without them
3) tracking is less effective than using speeders to search the area
4) added traps are no better than the scout traps
5) /forage is increasinging likely to find specials, as no specials have been put into the game foraging fails

i built 2 suits of RIS from GDK hunting, without tracking i got like 3 scales, with tracking i was able to complete 2 full sets

1. incorrect. if your master ranger camo almost never breaks.
2. camps are awesome. good for a place to rest while hunting and rebuff or craft.
3. no way, tracking is 100X better than just flying around on your speeder.
4. traps are always useless anyways unless your ranged you can use the mesh to keep creatures away from you.
5. forage is BS you never get anything useful. at least it dosent hurt anything while not being helpful either

Nice guide Calc. I miss my time as a Master Ranger, that's probably the one profession I was most proud to master. If Rangers ever get some love I just might go back to it.
