I don't recommend Gorath or Kauri unless you speak German or French, respectively. I play on Gorath and while the players are mostly nice and understanding, I cannot understand one word of German. There is NO indication during character creation that any server is "claimed" by a certain nationality or language group. SOE needs to fix this issue! Other than that, Gorath is also quite populated (read: lag in space and on ground) but as a result of the population, there is always plenty of players on in almost all major cities. It's give and take.

Come over and have a look at Valcyn. We are in need of new folks coming in and joining our friendly crew.
We are mainly Aussies, Kiwis, quite a few Europeans and a very good mix of US and Canadian players. The server is occupied 24x7 so there are always folks around.
Happy to help you get established and reacquainted with the game.

I found ping to any of the non-european servers from the UK was a bit high, maybe as I'm used to good pings to euro servers.
Anyway, I tend to play Chimaera and Infinity, andmy son plays on Farstar.
Chimaera is really crowded and busy, FarStar I hear is a rather unpleasent server to play on although I cant saymy lad has had any problems, and Infinity is relatively empty.
I find that a character on Chimaera and one on Infinity is a nice combination, as you can dive into the huge population on Chimaera for a bit then go to Infinity for a rest.

Thanks for the threadjack, Inez. As for servers, I live in the United States so I want to make sure if I try a new server, that people will actually be in there playing when I am. I'm interested in the strong roleplaying servers.

When I first started my Gorath toon I was a little put off by not being able to understand everyone, but later I realized it doesn't really matter. Most people can speak english if need be. I think Gorath's mix of culture adds a lot to the MMORPG "feel" of the game. But I guess If you are from the UK, Chimaera would be a good choice since it is the European server.
