It's a great game .... There isLOADS to do, I don't grind and I don't make a awsome templet. I have some combat skills a bit of entertainment skills, fly a ship. If I get a bit board of one aspect I go and do another and I have never lost intrest in SWG at all.

This is a good question.

I have been a computer gamer for more than 2 decades, back then pc (apple) games were a series of beep and boops, blinking green or amber flourecent pixel clumps roughly approximating human, animal, object forms.

As the years past color was added, AIs increased in complexity and cunning, pixlated masses got exchanged for bitmapped figures. The games themselves got better, more immersive, more entertaining. Our sophisitcation as players increased along parallel lines with game development. Later the first 3d shapes started showing up, then real 3d models with textured skins. Flying in space or the air began to actually approximate the real "feeling", creeping around a landscape or dungeon became more realistic. In short immersion increased.

Then came the first commercially viable MMOGs, UO, EQ were the top contenders. Sure muds had been going on a while but for me, they were more akin to a poorly written book than a game. Now I could actually walk around, explore, interact with the "world", but better yet I could do it with companions.

The next generation came and for me raised the bar, providing even more emersion, AO, and DAOC, introduced interesting PVP especially the later.

Then came SWG, for me this was a watershed game. Not only am I a certified Star Wars fan of the first generation, but consider Star Wars to be an instrumental and important story for my generation. It was a turning point in film history an ingenious film with incredible effects. At the time I was more impressed with the simple coolness of a space movie that didnt have a monolith in it, big explosions and space ships helped.

I saw the first movie on my 7th birthday in the theater after waiting sweating under the sweltering June heat of my home town. From that moment my world changed, quite literally that film interested me in a so far life long love of science fiction, physics, story telling, and yes even games.

SWG gave me the chance finally to play in the universe that had enchanted me as a child. How could I not play? As I said Ive had a lot of experiance of different games over the years and so have opinions about what is right and wrong with SWG, like most of us. My experiance with MMOGs has given me if nothing else a sense of perspective, the developers are interested in making this game better. I believe them. So I continue to play. SWG has adventure, tons of different proffs to try, a really cool player driven economy, great graphics, and now even space ships.

The game has only been out around 18 months or so, it has improved in a lot of ways since the begining, some ways it had worsened. But the good has so far outweighed the bad and when it comes down to brass tacks...it is Star Wars.

I await the CU and have faith that it will bring balance back to the game, the profession revamps that follow the CU will change the game even more. Patients is the hardest thing to have in this case, but the game has enough good things to keep me here.

There ya have it.

We play because we love it. We play because there is a crap load of bugs and we still deal with it. We play because our friends play. We play because we lov eStar Wars. We also play to hunt the Jedi that ruined the game.

I have just been notified that SOE puts spice made my Master Smugglers into SWG which makes us addicted to it. That is why we still play SWG

i've always been a star wars fan and after finishing star wars: knights of the old republic, i started looking for a new star wars game to play. I loved the role play aspect of kotor and when i went into pcworld nearly a year agoi saw jedi academy and star wars galaxies. i bought star wars galaxies because i loved the role play aspect of the game and also enjoyed the thought of playing with other star wars fans. This was the first online mmorpg that i've bought and have always enjoyed playing it. sometimes i would stop playing for a bit and return to rl (such as like during the olympics and points when i got bored with the game). However recently i've been playing more and more, jtl is one reason but another is due to joining ViBM and also uudoo graeth. To be playing with such great people makes playing the game even more fun, and even though i've recently bought GTA: San Andreas and Halo2 i'm still finding myself coming back to this game.
