You know what sucks the most about this 75k credits?

It is the same thing as the one gift I HATE giving and recieving... A gift card.

I HATE gift cards. They are so boring and thoughtless. I only give gift cards to a person I know but not really know and that I didn't have time to shop for. Otherwise I always give them a nice gift. And I hate getting gift cards. There so boring to open and you have to wonder: Did that person just have no time to shop for me and buy this at the last minute while coming over? =/

Guy, this is a game.

I will be giving thanks and spending time with my family.

But our relationship with SOE is a business one.

Meaning we pay, they deliver the service.

One could argue they havent had a stellar year holding up their end of the bargain.

From a strictly business stand-point....there are other companies offering comparable services.

I for one would not want to send the message to my customer base that I take them for granted at all, at a time when my competitors are trying to take some of those very same customers.

Look, as I said before, its not about the damn gift.

You had it right, it IS about giving thanks, SOE should do something to say thanks to the customers that have supported them.
End of story.

I dont understand how people can just "expect" gifts... The development team have been hard at work this year to bring us a great game. To me, that is a gift in itself....

The devs have brought us a great game. I agree. However a small token of appreciation during the holidays goes a long way with people. Especially when those people are paying customers. No one was 'expecting' a free account... just some sort of decoration or maybe even a cool piece of clothing. Stuff that you'd give IRL to someone to let them know you appreciate them.

Eh... What are the Life Day gifts then? Don't those count as a small token of appreciation? In my opinion these gifts are better than last years. They give us more information about thetradition we are celebrating.

Good job, SOE!

How was this "celebration" creative? They dumped a few wookiees in red robes out in the middle of Dathomir and your "quest" was to walk in a circle and talk to them. Not a lot of thought went into that "event". Much like the rest of the events that go on in this game. I've been with this game from nearly the start and have yet to see an "event". If you aren't in the right spot you miss it. And they happen not nearly enough (the excuse of too many servers is old and lame for a company as big as SOE).

I have to agree with Wardog here.

I had simmilar feelings about the Life Day event. I was expecting something a lot more creative besides Wookies who stand still and just talk to you. The content of their story was well written and interactive, but I was hoping for more than just a bunch of yapping out of their fur-holes. A quest in the least. Also, when I spoke to the now famed Wookie in Red that I was going to a celebration I got excited. I don't know about you guys, but those Wooks at the "Celebration" didn't look like they were having much fun. They could have thrown in a sound clip (do Wooks have music in their culture?), or had an NPC Wook shooting off fireworks every 10 mins. I dunno, something to spice up the party! They looked awefully bored.

I get so excited when there is new content, since I am so overly familliar with everything else in the game. I am usually on by server boot and on my way to do it. This one was just a let down in the long run. Sorry.

Now, I won't make a negative comment without a thoughtful suggestion (gotta keep the karma balanced). I have been playing since day one, and put a good amount of game time in each week. I have yet to see a live event for Bloodfin Server. This has always made no sense to me. I see all the cool events Pex & Team put together on the other servers and get really irritated. I hope in the future the Live Event team gets some love from the Directive team. Give the Live Events Team more resources to create better and more frequent events so everyone gets a chance to participate in something unique. I don't expect to be notified that an event is coming because that spoils the suprise, but after all my hours in game I sort of EXPECTED to participate in one by now. It's a quick solution to appease those of us craving CONTENT and some RP. At least it would fill these long gaps between content substantial publishes.

Thanks for reading, and I hope the game continues to progress forward! It's come such a long way since launch.

The life day stuff is pretty cool. However the 75k is kind of lame, when not do a painting.

Well, ...

First off SOE is'nt obligated to give anything out at all. That much I know and accept. I was hear last year when there were small sculptures and holocrons given out. That was great, and the sculptures were random and a lot of fun.

I left SWG for a while and just came back two weeks ago. Well when i found out that Lifeday was happening and there was some content involved, a telling of the history I thought "great, this is cool".A friend told me that he got a nice painting. Again "great, i like paintings".

How wrong i was.

I went to the "celebration" (3 wookiees in a hut, standing around O_o ) and spoke to the furry folk. They told me what i already knew, about the meaning of Lifeday, and then when i spoke to the elder he said to me...

"Well glad you stopped by,but since you have'nt been a member of our community for 30 days, we can't give you a gift"

Wha?!! I bought the retail game off the shelf again... i'm a paying customer... and I can't do everything that other players can do?!! Can someone explain to me why I've been shut out of the gift giving festivities? Is my money worth less than other people's money? I think I'd like to hear from the staff on this decision.

Second point, I'll keep it short. they gave out 75,000 credits to each player for the holidays? Not to be less than greatful but... why? I wouldn't do it in real life to people I know... why here? Giving money as gifts shows both lack of effortand lack of care.

Oh and it's tacky....

betenoir the reason they put a 30 day requirement on the life day gifts was to prevent people from aquiring the gifts on their alt characters then deleting the characters then creating new chars and getting the gifts all over again making them totally worthless

Worthless? ..... *_* ???

It's a painting!?! It hangs on a wall... why would anyone want 30 of them? other than to sell them... and then if EVERYONE could get one... who would buy more???

Thats a con-job that i just can't figure out. *tries to envision a house with 50 paintings of wookiees all over the walls*

If SOE could manage to avoid credit duping with their 75K giveaway... why not just give everyone a gift voucher in the same way (On one character per server, ONE TIME), then they could be sure of no alt remaking... you speak to the wookiee... they tell their tale and you hand in the voucher for the gift...

Gee... and I just thought about it for about 1 minute and came up with that and it's 4:22 AM and I've been up all day playing SWG... and I'm quite tired. Imagine what a fully rested, caffine charged DEV could come up with if they only cared...

The more I play SWG and the more I read the forums, the more I think that there are a lot of people whom are very unhappy that are playing this game. They never seem to be happy with anything. I'm sorta glad that I'm not a DEV on this game, because it must be rough always reading the same things from disgruntled players.

I do believe that we have a right to complain with this game, especially since we are paying a monthly fee for it, but some of it is just ridiculous. Please, just try to give it a rest. Just try.

Sure, I'd like to receive a Christmas gift from SOE, but since the Star Wars Universe does not really have Christmas, I'd rather see something like a voucher for a free month of play. Something real.

For those of you whom do not celebrate Christmas, or do not think that you should even have to look at any Christmas things, I kinda agree with you, but the way the world is, you'll have to get over it, or you'll drive yourself mad.

Christmas is for kids, and retailers. Christ wasn't even born very close to Christmas, the tradition was started to make the Christian holiday more palatable to the pagans whom were being forced into Christianity by their Roman Emporer. At least into an acceptance of the religion. It's like Easter... when Christ rose from the dead... it is celebrated with things like bunnies, eggs, chickens and baby animals.... it was a fertility holiday that was melded with a Christian one. These things just make me laugh, and a little bit too hard sometimes. It really is funny, from a certain point of view.

I got 2 copies of this email. One for my main, and one for my alt.

I have JtL on both accounts...HOWEVER...What I want to know...Is why? Why did SOE do this? This is unfair to those people who do not have JtL, for one reason or another. Is SOE trying to say that they appreciate the JtL Enabled Subscribers more then the non enabled?

I think I am just going to find some noob and give them the 75k creds from both toons.

The gift is lame, im sorry and I know it sounds greedy but its lame.

75k? Have they looked at the economy lately?

Aside from that, you must have JTL to claim this gift. How lame is that??? Is that supposed to promote sales for JTL?

"Buy our $50 game and well give you enough money for a CDEF pistol"

Lame, lacking in creativity, greedy, discriminating present.

They could cancel this game tomorrow and I wouldn’t lose a bit of sleep over it, and IM JEDI!!
