Thread: Star Wars Names: The Name Doctor is IN!
Wassup Doc
How about... Zuba Fey'zul, Bothan Smuggler
?
(pronounced zooba fay-zool)
Human Marksman (currently)
Aspirations to become a soldier and tactician, some light crafting and heavy training in weapons.
I must say I love the way you look at names, I love names too and thought long and hard on this one, I know Stivan could sound like Stephen, but this was not intended. I made the first name up, the last name was from the generator.
Remik Stivan
How about Kiryan Gwa'syr
Bothan... something or other, I'm still trying to decide.
Epaufeasee Da'yka
That is the name of a Bothan Scout I had been working on, pure random name generator. Im not sure what bothans would be named.
Talfin Bladesman
Ok, here we go. I am a full time roleplayer here, and to be honest the name come's from a D&D Paladin I had who's background stemed from a royal family of a highly combat orientated society. Son of a Duke, he slayed his father after appropriateing a sword, against the law for his age, that turned out to be cursed. Later in hiding, his wife and family were killed because some higher evil power wanted the sword back. He was left for dead and decided to turn his life over to a higher power and work unendingly to right wrong's and set his tarnished soul back on the right path.
Now moveing the idea over isn't too hard, replace "cursed" with the word "sith", and "higher power" with the word "Empire" and you have the idea of the character.
Have at it...
Ok, some more to bang out while I have music playing ![]()
20 more names!
Eventine Rka'Sey -Male Bothan
Realizing that the first name is both derivative, cross-genre and non-Bothan will go a long way toward redemption in my eyes.
In all seriousness, that is a fine last name, and we should concentrate on modifying the first name to retain the feel, but get it out of fantasy-land.
Wuba Nhilubba - Mon Cal Architect
I love this name. If you say it right, you sound like you are drowning...heck, everyone, grab a glass of water, and while drinking, say this name. Yes, you DO IT! See what I mean? Ok, except for the one name for Calamari thing, you hit the nail on the head and didn't hit it too hard. Well done.
Dertkana Otawa
Ok, the fact you were raised by humans make this ok with me. The last name is quite Japanese in appearance, but it will pass on your name, now, your brother...
Kytou Otawa
Looks WAY too Japanese in appearance. Again, this is not a personal bias, but an artifact of the canon and literature. I would love more representation of the Asian cultures in Star Wars, aside from stereotypical evil businessbeings.
Bejacy Starlancer, Malakan Starlancer
Fun game, Starlancer was. However, it may be a bit much here. Bejacy is a fun name to say. Malakan just shows that the Mal- root always works in fantasy and sci-fi. Good first names!
Ketzal
Ah, the Aztecs are here. You can't swing a dead capybara without hitting an Aztec reference in gaming. Of course, I celebrate diversity in names, but a Wookiee with this name is too much of a stretch. On the other hand, the kid's show "Dragon Tales" has a main character with that name...so if you were a Trando, I would buy it more.
Vandar Stardriel
When I first read this I honestly thought it said "Stardrivel!" I chuckled then realized that the name wasn't a satire. Vandar is a good V name. It's hard to mess up V names in scifi and fantasy. Stardriel needs something, and unfortunately I can only guide you in a direction here. I'm thinking Star and a more centered word. Stargazer, uh no, scratch that. I dunno from here. all I can say is "more direction."
Shafo Cloudwalker
Welcome to Star Wars! Shafo and Cloudwalker are not too bad for a generated name. To give it space, I would have modified the "f" in Shafo to another consonant: Shalo, Shawo, Shago, etc.
Azulia Belagadeoa
I am sorry to say you look like a Latin name for a plant. Azulia in itself is a very nice name, but the last name with the -eoa ending seals the coffin. That being said, redemption is quite near. Keep everything, but modify the last name slightly: Beilgad or Beligada or even Beligade, which sounds cool.
Renack Oduno
"Oduno" what to do with this name. Seriously, it seems to work fine for me, except the Calamari one name thing. Renackoduno would almost work, except for people trying to send you tells.
Varien
Hard to go wrong with humans in V names. This one looks fine, and sounds close but not quite like the famous cool V name people in scifi and fantasy (Vanyar, Valen, etc, etc.).
Tem Rayth
Ooh Ooh! I like it. Very well crafted, easy to say, eays on the eyes.
Alobi Kato
Calamari one name thing. Ok, that being said, the sea-like Kato name works well. Alobikato would be ideal, in mine eyes.
Yong Mun'Sa - Twi'lek CH/BE
A temple(?) in China. I'm pretty sure it's a temple. I know it's a Chinese or similar culture group name. Obviously it has significance to you. Perhaps you can soften the Yong character, as it is a give-away for origins. Mun'Sa sounds nice.
Redmond, Akea
Well, Redmond, here we go. But first, is this Redmond, Washington? I live not too far away in such a case. At any rate, for a Twi'lek it's not a good show, unless we go the "nickname or human-named" route. I once wrote a fantasy story in which a character was named Redmount, and he got his nickname for surviviing a battle on top of a hill, covered in blood, etc. So be thinking along those lines in the nickname category. Akea, aside from being close to IKEA, is a fine last name, and I urge you to try it on someone.
Dossrad Edrana
For personal reasons (being a child of the 80's or something) I don't like the particle -rad. I am not going to let it influence me here, and give this one a nice pass, mostly because it sounds good.
Kulis Lanternkin
There's that Anglo-Saxon combo. It flows nicely in this name, and works for me. I write less for good names, so I stop here
.
Kalrethachuk
Kalreth - a - chuk is how I break this down. First, it's almost Salish in character (now that you all know where I reside, I can bust out the Northwest Coast Indian stuff), which appeals to me. Wookiees need to have more of these names. Did you use a name generator of sorts to get there? I am a little concerned that I see another name, Kalreth, inside it, which makes me wonder if you "Wookieefied" this one. Since I deal with Wookiees named "Chewintabacca" and such all the time, it's a welcome name.
Silvanus Thenik
Silvanus works for an Elf, less so for any other race, but it flows quite well with the last name, so it passes. Thenik is a good example of an interesting psychological deal English speakers have with a lot of comfort of the "thorn" sound and any stop consonant (in this case, thorn (TH) and the stop (k)). I have some understanding why it is, but I don't want to overreach my knowledge and instead suggest you look up naming conventions in Old English for more info.
Ok, I'm out for now. 20 names a t a time is my emotional limit before I feel like beating my head on the keyboard, in which case you would see this:
Algernon FitzHugh Malcolm MacDowell -- Wookiee Dancer
Well you know WOkkkkdsfjalkasdjsdkljafsdkljfskladirewuewioulkdfskjlnmd!!!!!!!!!
And we wouldn't want that.
RbT
Yo Riis. Could you please rate my names? I came up with all of them on my own, however my Zabrack's first name was inspired by a radomly generated name.
My Human Artisan: Sabin Dorntamer
My Zabrack Teras Kasi/Scout: Telldrin Tetac
My Zabrack Medic (He appears to be human, because he never got any tatoos and purposely disguises his horns with a turban): Balthesar Tribune
On a side note, I named my medic Tribune because it is defined as being 'a defender of the people', which is a perfect name for a medic in my opinion.
Tell me what you think, Riis.
I have 1 question for you then I'd like you to rate my name, what did you mean by the comment (on your last name judging):
"Ok, except for the one name for Calamari thing"
And here's the name I'd like you to judge:
Dackbar Ockar
Mon calamari
Hi there riis, havn't I seen you somewhere in game? Anyway,
Bach Nivlin
It just kinda spilled outta my fingers one day..and I wasn't even thinking about the musical composer, that hit me about a week later, when it was too late to turn back ![]()
