Thread: Christmas Gift from SOE
Actually it's the tradition started more than 20 years ago in the little known 'Star Wars Holiday Special' that aired on national television.

Yeah, I have that on DVD. lol
But I celebrate Christmas as does my character ingame. She runs around singing Christmas carols and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. She even told the wookies at their little get together about the true meaning of Christmas.
Ingame the wookies might celebrate Life Day but my character doesn't. And I the real world we all celebrate either Christmas, Hannukah, Ramadan, Kwanzaa and us all the New Year.
Eh... but the game isn't Real Life™. None of those holidays exist a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

I have asked some friends and no one else has received this email, I can't confirm if I received the credits because I really don't recall exactly how many credits I had when I logged in and there was no ingame notification. Is this real?
Last year tho it was much much better... Robes and Orbs were given out, and on top of that everyone did receive a gift... the Holocron. If you also remember there were also some really cool events... anyone remember the event to get a TIE fighter or Xwing permenantly placed in your city? What happened to this kind of stuff? No disrespect at all, but a simple quest that just requires you to run to a planet and talk with a wookiee seems like the EASY way out to give us a great holiday line up.

Life Day was a excellent Chirstmas season gift. Very creative and vastly more interesting than just having something show up in inventory.
Merry Christmas anda Happy New Year
We wanted to make the holiday gift this year be more consistent with the Star Wars Galaxies themeand alsogive you something to do to receive this gift. Glad you liked it, the events team worked hard on this and they did a bang up job. =)
Confirmed. Me too.

How was this "celebration" creative? They dumped a few wookiees in red robes out in the middle of Dathomir and your "quest" was to walk in a circle and talk to them. Not a lot of thought went into that "event". Much like the rest of the events that go on in this game. I've been with this game from nearly the start and have yet to see an "event". If you aren't in the right spot you miss it. And they happen not nearly enough (the excuse of too many servers is old and lame for a company as big as SOE).

To give and to celebrate with family..../shake's headWhat message are you sending everyone? /sadHappy Life day everyone, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!! /Spreads the joyExpecting a gift isn't greedy you moron. A gift is defined as follows:
"Something that is bestowed voluntarily and without compensation"
It can be a worthless item to a million dollar ring. I expect a gift. A token of appreciation. A happy holidays.
I expect it from my boss and my friends and family. I do not expect it to have a significant monetary value. I want them to remember me and appreciate me as I do they. I would send SOE a christmas gift but I cannot seeing as soe is a nameless faceless organization. I expect things I pay a 149.99 subscriptions to to wish me a happy holidays with a token of appreciation. Even my magazine sends me a christmas card.
Thaats right moron you expect it .. there for it is neither voluntary nor with out compensation. To you its demanding or suffer your whinyness.
I expect my friends to be friends not fuel me with gifts expect my boss to keep me in a job, my family to be therein time of need. i do not "expect" a gift from any of them. there fore when it is giving it is indeed voluntary.
I expect for my 15 a month for s.o.e. to do their job and that goes with the devs. i do not expect nor desire a flipping gift.
my gift to s.o.e and the devs is to not be a child every moment i get on here and realise somethings do infact take time to build.
I yell at them, because... well i yell at everyone and why should they be the expections. lol
So now you know why you do not get a gift from me, you expect it, hence you would not get it.
Friends like that i can do without you ingrate.

I do want to thank the events team for pulling all of the Life Day events together though."
MEANWHILE, I come home tonight and my e-mail account says SOE is giving 75k to each character per server.....
C'MON! A LITTLE BIT of communication would be nice!

Well it could be nothing at all. I swear to god sometimes people cry about the dumbest sh!t.
Isn't there enough broken crap in the game to cry about without adding "what have you done for me for Christmas" to the list?
How about a combat upgrade for christmas.....there we go.
Anyone who wastes one second of their day complaining about what gift SOE is giving or not giving for freaking Christmas needs to get out more. Seriuosly think about it guys.
Flame away, I this place anyways.
I agree, game content is way more important, but at least SOE could have a little more imagination... It's like they don't try or give effort in anyhting they do.
I agree. It's pathetic to whine about not getting something or getting something stupid, but come on! This is so typical of SOE. And only to JTL owners. I bought JTL about a month ago but have yet to install it (WoW took up that disk space :smileywink. This happened with the Veteran reward, you got a spaceship that for playing SWG for a year could only use once you bought the add-on. If that isn't a worm on a hook I don't know what is. And for a company like SOE to do something like that just absolutely reeks...
