Each week, Q-3PO started a thread for you to share game tips with fellow players. Tuesday Tips will continue on with that tradition so be sure to join in and add your helpful tip. Do you have a little known command you use all the time? A cool place to visit? A trick (non-exploit) to getting more out of the game?

Share it here.

To get things started:

Staying in touch with friends across Galaxies

We are still seeing a lot of questions about staying in touch with friends across galaxies, so I wanted to touch on cross-galaxy chat and friend's lists for all of our newer community members:

Adding a friend: Keep in touch with friends across galaxies by adding them to your friend's list (including Test Center) like this:

In the spatial chat window, type:

/addfriend servername.character

OR use the Friends window (CTRL-P, Friends Tab):

Use the ADD command in the friends window and type in:

Servername.character

A tip to help keep track of which server they are on is to use the "Group" column in your friends list.

Note: that it will only show the player name in your friends list, so if you add someone like Chilastra.Han it will only say "Han" in your friends list. Also, it will only keep the last "Han" in your list.

Chatting with a friend: Chat with friends across galaxies using tells like this:

/tell Servername.character - sends to characters on another server

ex.) /tell Chilastra.Han message text

Check out last week's tips

If you add a friend to your friend's list from another galaxy it does not show on the list what galaxy it is on.

So if you friend has the same name in 3 galaxies, you will only see that they are online but will not know what galaxy it is

To get around this put in the comment section what galaxy it is.

You can also chat with people playing Everquest 2.

/eq2.servername.name

For example:

/eq2.runnyeye.chantella Hi

"SWG? Multiplayer? oh yeah... If I had 1 penny for every time the phrase "solo group" was spoken in 1 single day of SWG I could retire. LOL. We'v got to face that this isent a multiplayer game, its a multiple person interaction simulation single player role playing game... So its a. MPISSPRPG. "-Me

TH,
A small question if I may.
I know how to use the cross-server chat within the Galaxies and cross-game chat with EQ and EQ2 but I’m having trouble adding people from EQ and EQ2 on my friend list while in SWG.
Does the option exist? And if so what is the exact command please?

Thanks
Deli'ah

Many newer players don't know this one.

How to be sneaky while fighting:

You want to get the first few hits in in combat to start the damage rolling before the bad guy starts to damage you.

If you are fighting melee, stand out at about 15m, and lunge at your target. The lunge slows down your target and they often will not advance or be able to advance to attack you until the 3rd or 4th lunge attack.

If you are fighting ranged, get to ideal range (>15m) and kneel or lie prone. Then you can start shooting. They will have trouble spotting you until your 3rd or 4th shot.

For social enemies, they will not bring their friends until that 3rd or 4th hit. If you have a good enough weapon, you can take out even a social group with taking minimal damage.

Edit: Been a while since I posted in a Tuesday Tip thread. Didn't realize they were themed now.

Welcome back TH, and thanks for the tip...

Also, to remove a cross-server friend entry from one's friends' list, the UI remove button will not work...

You must use the /command as follows:

/removefriend serverName.characterName

Emperor Palpatine (from "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith"):
"Every single Jedi is now an enemy of the Republic. Do what must be done. Do not hesitate. Show no mercy."

WARNING DO NOT ADD FRIENDS FROM ANOTHER GALAXY

I cant believe you posted how to do this... First off let me say, if you want to add a friend from another galaxy it doesnt tell you what galaxy they are on. AND to make maters worse, When you want to delete the friend from your list, YOU CANNOT! It says that name does not exist, because of course it doesnt exist if that person isnt on your galaxy. CSRs CANNOT FIX THIS ISSUE which means they told me the ONLY WAY to fix this is to blank out your friend list and start fom scratch.

DO NOT ADD FRIENDS FROM ANOTHER GALAXY

I have confirmed this on multipule accts, and chars on other galaxies.. This is a BAD BUG, I cant believe they posted how to add friends to your friend list. I am totally annoyed I cant delete those friends and they haunt me because they enemies now and I have to see them on my list that I cant remove.

IDEA

How about fixing this bug then posting how this works. But until this is fix, heed my warning once you add a friend from another galaxy you cannot delete them. Wow I am shocked a dev posted this garbage...

BTW I am not bashing anyone here, I am clearly making a point for the Dev and SOE to understand that this is a major problem and needs addressing. I just find it funny they tell you to do this yet its bugged!

.....umm... look two posts up......you can delete them.........

Also, nice catch on double tipping...... I thought we saw this tip before here....

Use an alias to simplify your tells to your cross-server friends. It's easy:

/alias alias /tell servername.username

Example: /alias Han /tell Chilastra.Han

Then just use /han Hi!! to send him a tell.
