Thread: Money for a Ship, Dangit

Hey ... newb here that's wondering how to make money fast. Currently I am Marksman 0-4-0-3, Scout 3-0-0-0, and Imperial Pilot Initiate 2-1-1-1. I'm still in the starter ship, and I need money to move beyond it. So far the best money I've made fastest was on Dathomir, when a rancor hunting group was kind enough to take me along. However this doesn't happen very often, and the only other fast way to get money I've found is grinding for ship parts up in space. Anyone have any better ideas on where I can make this money so I can get a starfighter that can take more than 2 or 3 hits from Tier 2 ships? I'd love to get back into space.

You are really going to have to develop your ground character a lot more and probably take some time earning money before you can go too much further in space. I have spent over 2 million credits on ships and ship parts in the past few days.

The quickest way to make money at the stage you are at right now might be to go kill random low level creature spawns or run creature missionsfrom a mission terminal and use your scout skills to harvest the bones/meat/hide and sell it on the bazaar.

As a marksman, you aren't going to be able to handle many of the high level mobs and creatures yet, you will need to expand into an 'elite' profession, I recommend Rifleman for ranged, and TK or Swordsman for melee.

Once you have mastered an elite profession, you should be able to 'solo' the top paying missions, which I think are still Janta and Mokk Shaman missions on Dantooine. If you get in the proper solo group, you can earn 30-32k with each mission for about 3 minutes worth of work.

Unfortunately, the Space Expansion isn't really a stand alone game, you need to take time to develop a ground character first...

Very good advice, Cobacca. As for what meat to collect, go to your server's trade forums. Many types of meat will sell for 20, 50 or even higher cpu.

Docs need herbivore and avian meats. If you can get stats over 900, it will be in demand big-time.

I have the same problem with money, I am a 2-3-2-3 marksman and a 1-0-0-0 or 2-0-0-0 in brawler(dont know for sure) Right now, Im trying to become a commando, but still is taking some time, Becoming a master commando is going to take a whole lot of time(Maybe its cause I havent been training that often, due to my new ship gotten from that veteran reward) ANyone know where I can train to get money for a Y-wing?

Lol, the space part is so much more fun though ... oh well. Guess I'll be a ground-pounder for a few weeks *sigh*.

About the meat ... I'm getting 150 a piece from rancors right now. If i loot enough rancors to get over 900, will that be worth a lot of money? (found someone to kill em w/ me)

Amen. I don't spend too much on parts and ships, and used to make a boatload of cash doing missions...I'm now at 2/2/2/2, with 60k credits. I'm in need of a TIE/IN because the final Tier II mission (Assassinate Colonel Hend) is physically impossible with the low mass of my TIE. My TIE I bought was very cheap. It got me through the Tier II missions with the greatest of ease, until the end. I bought my TIE for 25k on Tatooine, and deeded it for 13k at the Bestine Starport. The better parts weigh too much for the ship. I'm a pathetic Rifleman (2/2/2/2), and kinda lonely as I'm always soloing missions. If I could just sell 1k Imperial faction points, I'd make it. I'll charge 70k, and do missions (Ground) for the rest of the remaining money. This character is on Bloodfin. Say your name if interested, and I'll contact you within 72 hours. Thank you for your patience. Long story short, I'm also in need of some money, with a boost too, and I'm fustrated too. I've been doing that same mission for 2 days now. I barely won the Col. Hend Capture mission. Or, if there's a Bloodfin shipwright out there who is kind enough to assist, I'll pay you 20k a week until the amount is paid off. That gives me enough time. Just state your Bloodfin character's first name, and I'll do my best to contact you very soon.

The 900 number that was mentioned isn't the quantity, it refers to the quality, when you examine the meat you'll see a bunch of statistics, the two stats of the most importance are the potential energy and the overall quality, if both of these are over 900 then the meat will sell for a premium. Also, Rancors (if I remember right) drop carnivore meat which will sell, but usually not for that much. If there is some premium meat dropping you can usually find out by going to coronet or theed starports, there'll be someone spamming that they are looking for it

The 900 number that was mentioned isn't the quantity, it refers to the quality, 1000 being the higest possible. When you examine the meat you'll see a bunch of statistics, the two stats of the most importance are the potential energy and the overall quality, the closer to 1000 these are, the more the meat will sell for.

Rancors (if I remember right) drop carnivore meat which will sell, but usually not for that much. If there is some premium resource dropping (sometimes hides are in demand too) you can usually find out by going to coronet or theed starports, there'll be someone spamming that they are looking for it, how much they'll buy for and where you can drop it off. You can also check the trade forums for your galaxy.

Following Cobbaca's lead...selling wooly hide is also profitable if ou can find a good spawn. Or you could always mine and sell resources.

Yeah you'll need some money. I've sold off what I've had that I didnt' want, begged, and spent my whole bank account on ships and I'm not even done. Spent over 500k on just components for an X-Wing, not including the components I already owned that I used. Throw in 50k for the chassis, up to 400k or so for the blueprints. Good ship can and probably will cost you about a cool mil. If you get in guild with a shipwright they might give you a good deal.

Alright problem solved. I met a very nice Master Rifleman/Ranger that did Rancor quests with me and got me enough money that I could buy a TIE/In at a discount from my (also very nice) TKM friend.

This game may havea bunch of problems, but DAMN the people in it are the nicest I've met in any MMO.
