Thread: The difference between a 800 and a 900 buff pack

I am a master doc and I have made some reasonable buff packs (810) I hate it when I buff one person getting a couple over 3000 and all over 2000 and the next person gets some buffs in the 1100s.

As for there not being much difference between a 800 pack and a 900 pack, I disagree.

An 800 pack buffs for around 2000 and a 900 pack for around 2250

This can be applied to each of the three health stats and each of the three action stats.

Which means you get 12.5% more health you loose 12.5% less health and it recharges 12.5% faster.

which gives us roughly 1.125^3 = 42% increase.

I know these formulas are not all linear and I havent taken into account your stats before buffing but I hope my point is clear.

The other thing I have learnt in this game is that some people are willing to spend a lot of money to get something a little bit better than the next guy.

Yes, the extremes of a 800 and a 900 pack are different, however, with the randomness of buffs the distributions of those packs overlap to a large degree. As a result more often than not you would get the same buff using either pack.

Now that P. 7 is going in this will not be true.

Your point about people paying a lot more cr for just a bit more performance will be interesting to see once buffs are static. The big questions will be do people pay more for a 2k buff vs a 2.4k buff? Realizing that making a 800 buff pack will be much less costly than a 900 pack will the buff sell for more? Also, will buying tempora (wound healing food) to get the buff up a bit more pay off?

I am very interested to see how this works out. I have 900+ pack and a stock of food so I am hoping that you are correct and folks will pay a premium for the top of the line buff. I also have some 750 packs for the non-rich.

Okay... Right now the AVERAGE you hit with ANY pack will be what you hit for EVERYTIME after publish 7.

So... do 25 buffs with a 900 kit NOW before the publish. Average the results. Do 25 buffs with the same rated kit AFTER publish 7 and you'll see that you hit for approximately that average every single time.

What does that mean? That mathmatically there is NO CHANGE in the buffs. A 900 buff pack is only slightly better than an 800 pack NOW. It's just now you SOMETIMES hit for really high amounts... and SOMETIMES hit for really low amounts... and the higher the pack... the bigger the range.

No more range... that's it... the average of all your buffs will be the same.

You are very correct. The average will not change. However, in practice you dont buff the same person 100 times. You only buff them once. More often then not (70%) a person getting a buff will not know that it came from a 800 pack or a 900 pack with the current random method. So for 70% of the time the two packs are identical (15% of the time the 800 pack hits lower than a 900 pack would and 15% of the time the 900 pack hits for higher than a 800 pack could).

With the static buff there will only be two variables between your buff and the doc next to you; food and pack (everyone has a 110 droid, bio clothing). Ignoring food for the moment, 100% of the buffies will know what lvl pack you are using while currently only 30% can tell.

This will make the two packsmore different in the new system than the current one even though average has not changed.

PS. Please realize that the 70% is just my rule of thum and is not based on hard data/math. It is just used to show a point.

Something to think about.

The average buff using 800 pack/110 droid/+25 clothing/+25 temporagives2200.

The average buff using 900 pack/110 droid/+25 clothing/0 tempora gives 2227.5.

At times it may be better to go with the 800 pack and eat the tempora than strive for the 900 pack. For example, on Flurry tring to get good class 4 is much harder than good food. So it is more cost effective to buy the food.
