Thread: SOE plz consider (even though you prob wont even read this)
It's not upto thedevs to change the code because you fail to pick up novice artisan. Artisan is supposed to be the closest thing to "self-sufficent", so if you want a piece of that pie, your gonna have to sacrifice 15 skill points. What would they put in the survey line of Artisanif medics could survey? A lot more people would opt for Novice Medic (or advancing) as there's a clear advantage to the ability to heal yourself
Other than that, get a friend/guildee to survey for a decent spot for youbefore you drop the harvester.

Aren't Jedi character's limited to jedi Skills? (ie. They can't have novice medic or any other skill besides jedi?)
Jedi's by default have surveying skills. And they come with survey tools when you first create it.

Some docs have asked for specific surveying skills to accomodate only our resources. If they did this and kept it specific to Lokian Wild Wheat, Talusian Water, Tatooine Fiberplast, etc then it would not be as big of an impact to the artisan line as every other crafter that uses mechanically harvested components would still haveneed for that line.
Medical forage is a joke, so I could see a change in it to be more functional for us to find places to harvest. Perhaps a Medical Survey instead of forage, but I do stil doubt it will happen. They like to force us to waste points outside the skill trees we really do want.
