Thread: Buff Lines: How Do YOU Maintain Yours?

Just mastered Doctor yesterday. Bought my +25 Wound Treatment clothing, bought some enhance packs, and went to Coronet (not sure about other servers, but on WH, Coronet is the main people gathering area of the server).

Started buffing with the 6k per buff spam (typical price on our server, although Im thinking about bumping it up a little).

Started getting a line, so I grabbed a piece of paper and started writing down names. Ended up making a buff macro that basically did /healenhance action; /healenhance stamina, etc, then thanked them after it was done, so both them and myself knew it was done.

Anyways, my question is, how do you keep order in the chaos that is Doctor Buffing Lines?

I had thought about adding them to a group in the order they got in line, but groups tend to just place them randomly in the group, so that wouldn't be fair.

So...how do you do it?

Order???? There is no order when 15 uber wanna be's all want their buffs. I usually do what you did, write their names down and cross them off when finished. I've been thinking of bringing along a wookiee friend for crowd control (nice RP touch). That way I can just say,"Talk to the Wookiee with the big hammer."

Depends really, if the game has all my focus I just try to remember and use the /notepad command if it gets long. If Im trying to talk on the phone while buffing or holding conversations with others, I make everyone bank tip me beforehandand I buff in the order I get the bank tips.

Hmm, thats not a bad idea. Have them send you an email request for buffs or a bank tip. Then use that as a line order. Delete the email when they are done getting buffed.

Takes a little time, but they are sitting there waiting for you anyways LOL.

I'll probably just grab a bigger notepad, and write them down. Or, use the ingame notepad, and delete names from the top and add to the bottom.

I use the setting for chat that requires an input key to start chatting. What this allows, is for you to scroll back through previous things you have said to edit and restate them.

So i /yell or /say the following :

Current Line : Han Solo, Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker

When people want to be added to the list I just enter chat and scroll up to the message and add them to the end.
When I am done buffing a person I scroll up and delete them fromt he front of the list.

I will skip a person while leaving them at the front of the list 3 times before deleting them from the list. This helps account for LD and any errands they want to run while waiting for a buff. Its easy enough to continue buffing the 2nd person in line for that short period. I have had lines exceeding 15 people. 15 people is a 30 minute wait at a bare minimum, I cannot expect people to just sit there and wait.

Another thing is that I only add people to the list according to order of Direct Tells. It is too hard to track all of the chat going on in a busy metropolis such as Theed or Coronet. Direct tells being a different color give you a little cue and its easier to notice and add people.

Best way I find to do the mad buff sessions, is to have all people as they come up for buffs get in a line....(yes a real line) and wait their turn. I have them tip me when their turn is up to make sure each person pays. I usually have a macro up to explain to new customers my prices and to get in line. I find it is much easier to keep order with a lineinstead of 10 people sitting in a circle. This also keeps you from accidently buffing people out of order and making sure you get paid by all in their turn.

I say, "Whoes next", if I lose track in my mind. Let them argue amoungst themselves. If they are afk, they didnt miss anyhting anyway, lol.

I have a slightly related tip for you:

When crafting your buffs, NAME them like this: "Enh Sta (900)" or Enh Con (850)

...where the number in parenthesis is the power. When you are setting up to buff, sort your inventory by name and all your buffs line up together.

By default, the name starts with the stat, which places them in fairly random order in your inventory. I tend to use different packs for different customers (dont piss me off or you get a 100 point buff with 12k duration). Using the "/healenhance stamina" , for example, will take any ol' stamina pack... i like to be sure which pack gets used.. thus the inventory clicking.

Wow, you guys are too organized for me. I just ask them to pull up a chair and I will get to them ASAP. If don't do it in the exact ordor, oh well. If I skip someone then I just come back to them.

I tend to do a lot of talking to others while using a macro to buff folks.

If you try to keep an exact order then people expect it to be an exact order. So when you mess up the get all huffy. I like to keep it loose and friendly. I work on the tip method rather than fixed rate so it is important to me to make sure folks are having a good time.

A few times when I have really messed up I have tipped folks back a little bit to just let them know that I respect thier time. The funny thing is that those same peopletend to tip me back the money plus some. It is a great for PR.

I remember off hand but I'm thinking off just getting in a line which makes it easier.

this is one thing that really intrigues me in this game...

since the devs have proved they have zero foresight they probably never considered the importance of buffs...

and now a whole enconomy has grown around just that...

We can buff other people? Do the Devs know about this?

I use notepad to keep them in order. As my macro finishes, I open notepad, find the next person in line, type /target *name* and then I restart my macro.

I only add people's names as I confirm them through tells...I've had some people just sit down without a word and get upset with me...but if they don't hear from me that they are in line...then they aren't.
