If the person you're going to heal is overt or has a TEF (you'll see the little flag icon). You will get a TEF.

Ok....sorry i may seem so ignorant but i dont do much PVP:
So...I can tell if a player is TEF'd because they will have a tef flag by their name? i cant say i ever noticed that on anyone other than myself. Some names are blue, some are purple ....(jim so confused)
and also IF they are overt, how do i tell specifically?
thanks ahead of time

I have a dumb question:
can you get a TEF by rezzing a slain faction member who was overt when he died?
I think you can't but I want to make sure.

Not sure, but my guess is that you can gain a TEF that way. Can anyone verify that?

Not off the top of my head... I think all healing actions give a TEF though.
Dragincap does now, so Res probably does.

If someone's name appears as being purple, it means that they are of the same faction you are. So, if you're a rebel and you see someone's name appear as purple, they are also a rebel - they might be overt and they might be covert. (I believe the leader of your group also appears purple so I'm assuming you're not grouped with any of these people.)
When you target someone, you should see the details about that person including any status effects on that person (dizzy, blind, poisoned, etc). If you see a small flag in that area, that means that the person has a TEF. If you heal someone with a TEF, you'll get one yourself.
You'll know if someone is overt or not if you can see a symbol for either the Empire or the Rebellion next to their name (not in the status effects section, but right next to their name over their head). If you heal someone that's over of your own faction, you'll get a TEF. You won't be able to heal someone that's overt from the other faction.
I hope that helps.

If they are overt they will have a rebel or imperial symbol in front of the name floating above their head. I don't PvP much either, but I've been a Master Doctor for quite a while.

If the imperial is overt you'll see the imperial star symbol next to their name. I believe if the rebel is overt you'll see the rebel symbol next to their name.
FYI... you gotta watch out for pets as well. I made the tragic (for me) mistake of stim packing a Rebel Pet that was incapped in PvP. Got toasted by 3 Imperial Players while waiting at the starport for my shuttle.
Ouch...

Overts are obvious (because of the symbols).
Best way to avoid chain TEFs is to ask before you heal.
